Double dipping = exploiting?

is there any official statement on this? more and more builds are utilizing double dipping but i don’t know if it is okay to use them.

wikipedia about “exploit”:

an exploit (from the english verb to exploit , meaning “to use something to one’s own advantage”) is a piece of software, a chunk of data, or a sequence of commands that takes advantage of a bug or vulnerability to cause unintended or unanticipated behavior to occur on computer software…

so blizzard, is it an exploit or not?

It is an exploit, but the game is designed for progression past a certain mid-endgame point to only be possible by the builds that use these exploits.

It’s pretty bad, and its the main thing holding this game back after largely fixing the loot problem. The worst part is when one of the “exploits” gets fixed or adjusted and the crutchers start whining about the game being unplayable with the build they took from Maxroll.

@Papasmurf69: that’s what i thought.

but still no official statement…
nobody cares.
but if the devs don’t care, why should i?

What do you mean by double dipping. Sorry, I don’t really follow streamers so I’m usually out of the loop when it comes to these things.

I was just about to ask the same thing. I have no idea what double dipping is

it is surely an exploit a bug or whatever you will call it.

One thing is clear that such things should have been nerfed as soon as they become known, but D3/WoW community literally blackmailed devs cuz “IT’s NoT FuuuNNN!!!” and they afraid of doing anything with that.

the wikipedia definition doesnt really matter. what matters is the ToS:

1. Cheating: Create, use, offer, promote, advertise, make available and/or distribute the following or assist therein:

    1. cheats; i.e. methods not expressly authorized by Blizzard (whether accomplished using hardware, software, a combination thereof, or otherwise), influencing and/or facilitating gameplay, including exploits of any in-game bugs, and thereby granting you and/or any other user an advantage over other players not using such methods;*
    1. bots; i.e. any code and/or software, not expressly authorized by Blizzard, that allows the automated control of a Game, or any other feature of the Platform, e.g. the automated control of a character in a Game;*
    1. hacks; i.e. accessing or modifying the software of the Platform in any manner not expressly authorized by Blizzard; and/or*
    1. any code and/or software, not expressly authorized by Blizzard, that can be used in connection with the Platform and/or any component or feature thereof which changes and/or facilitates the gameplay or other functionality;*

id assume since double dipping is inherently tied to certain skills/elixirs etc its authorized, as its especially something people can unknowingly use by just playing the game. so as long as its there, its up to blizzard to change the mechanic.

The devs just made a potion that stacks with others this patch (even though the subtext says 1) and allow bots to spam chat with rmt mats, i think you’re ok.

well they dont allow them, hence why they get banned, but yea, as far as double dipping goes, its pretty safe to use, as you cant even avoid it in certain scenarios.

should summoner necros be punished for using the holy bolt elixir for example? XD

Oddly enough on my necro that holy bolt elixir bug doesnt work for me, could be doing something “wrong” even still it wouldn’t bother me if they got rid of that bug if thats actually a bug

its important that your minions do the final kill on adds, also, you need the damage multipliers for whatever minion type you use - but yea, it can be a little wonky to use on minionmancers ^^

I mainly just use that attack speed potion anymore than holy bolts anyways

yea, i think on certain tiers it doesnt really matter that much anymore anyway. im switching between attack speed and crit+critdmg

I don’t think it would be considered and exploit since all you have to do is put points in certain skills. So someone could be doing and thinking damn this ability is really powerful and not realize it’s a bug. They usually get patched at some point and then people cry nerf.

LMAO, the wiki quote that’s cringe af hahahahahhaha, you guys can really go next level

As far as we know it’s intended, they just left bash alone

When exploits are discovered, if you want to be safe, wait a few days for it to be used widely by opportunists before using it.

From that point there is two possibilities:
a) No statements are made by devs, players can be rather confident about the exploit being “accepted”.
b) Devs communicate about it, making it clear that it’s (not) an exploit, leaving no doubt about it.

In case of a), players shouldn’t expect it for being there forever, the exploit being likely patched at some point. As long as there is no communication, you can never be sure, but if it’s not a over-powered/broken exploit, it’s usually okayish, but wait for a few days.

Using a bugged build (ie, double dipping) doesn’t count as an exploit in the sense your account is going to get banned. The only bugs in the game that will result in punitive actions are doing item dupe stuff. If you aren’t using 3rd party software or doing something that alters the in game economy you’ll be fine.

People could use bugged builds without even knowing it for instance. Eg people suspect the Rogue “Victimize” passive might be calculated wrong. But how is that your fault? How would you even know?

Flay duration is also multiplicative damage to flay. Its possible these basic attack skill multipliers are multiplicative rather than additive. Players just assume they are additive w.o really testing.

So far only bash and flay has been thoroughly tested.

Double dipping is fine. The game is intended that way. Blizzard can just stop the interaction to ‘balance’ the issue if needed. It has to be an issue first. Certain bugs and glitches doesn’t impact the player’s experience nor does it give a huge advantage to those that encounter bugs and glitches.
