Don't understand the new stats system

All my items before this patch have a ton of stats: +attributes, + abilities, + defense + offense etc.

All the items that drop post patch have like 2 stats, one being attribute and the other being something really really useless.

How exactly and I supposed to replicate my 5-6 stats “legacy” items in the new system?

When Loot 2.0 launched in D3 ROS the upgrade was clearly cut visible, there was hardly any holding on to old items for more than a week or two.

In the new item system I’ve gotten like 20 legendaries so far and wouldn’t use any of them.
My 2h that I got like 4 months ago is still unbeaten in dmg (it was originally a yellow, upgraded to a legendary), yet the closest thing I’ve seen to reach its damage was something that was 1k dmg behind.

What the hell is this new loot system?

No joke, type this question into google, there are countless videos explaining exactly this from major content creators.

Idk what a “content creator” is.

If you’re refering to people making videos on youtube, i don’t have time to listen to their endless childish rants introductions, “like and subscribe” advertisements and generally 90% useless filler information to get that what I need.

That’s not what I call content creation, that’s just self-advertisement.

I come to the forums to talk to real people about these things. If you actually have a useful video post it here.

Well, you Rares are useless (2 stats) and Legendarys are useful (3 stats)

Then you have the new Tempering system that allows you to add 2 more stats to the item.

Then you have the Masterworking system to improve upon stats on your item significally.

Also you have Greater Affixes that always rolls highest stats + a boost (They can be Masterworked as well for HUGE numbers)

This system is WAY better then what we had before, you just need to learn and understand it

Ah I see thank you, didn’t realize I had to use these new vendor systems to get items to the level of stats that the originals had.

I mean if you dont want to listen/watch content creators explaining it, there is always the official Blizzard videos and streams that explains it as well…

I tried to watch some of them but these things get longer and longer and more inefficient at providing quick data. I prefer asking people, since some seem enjoy watching these things no matter how long and mostly useless they are.

Try this…

Thank you than ykou…

Tempering Ancestral gear will allow you to add 2 affixes, 1 before ancestral.
And you get to select the category to roll them from and then it is RNG.

Then Master working improves those stats.

I initially disliked this change as I thought it was dumbing things down, and it is.
But it also affords more choice on your part for affixes to narrow in on. I think I prefer this now.

Also the game is no longer dead and boring at lvl75 and you can “play your way” more than ever before. By that I mean the old system was limiting to some things. Now master working makes some build options open up later in the game that were not possible early on.

Took me a full 90 levels to realize, hey I am still enjoying this, not like before.

If you prefer reading over watching:

Just a brief run down with some additional information. Mind you there are somethings in the patch notes and the videos that they don’t go over. I’ve tried to add as many of the smaller details into that summary.

You sir, need to search for that on Bing. :joy:

TLDR: Rares are trash now.

Legendaries have 3 stats + 2 stats you temper in for barely any cost. Now, to raise those values to extreme you can Masterwork them. If you Masterwork an item that have a Greater Affix, the stat potential is the highest. You have much better stat potential than Legacy gear.

Thanks you sir Angel!
