Don't remove the campfire

Don’t… just don’t.
Come on, you cannot add one or two more characters around a campfire? Sad…
You can just zoom out the campfire a bit to make some space.
It’s a Diablo thing from the beginning. That will frost me for sure.

Removing the campfire of the character selection screen in a Diablo Game would be one of the most evil things the devs could possibly do. That would be the same fauxpas as a filthy peasant would deside to jump into a steamroller and flatten the Rocky Mountains.

Sorceress: "I’m not sitting by the campfire with the rest of you. I need my space."

Barbarian: “Why? Afraid of a little heat?”

Sorceress: “No, I just don’t want to explain basic physics to you every time I cast a fireball. ‘Why no burny?’”

Rogue: “Oh, come on! It’s cozy over here! We even have snacks… I stole them from some demons.”

Necromancer: “Besides, I could use your company. My skeletons keep falling apart mid-conversation.”

Druid: “And if the fire dies down, I can just turn into a bear and keep it going with… let’s call it organic fuel.

Sorceress: “That’s exactly why I’m not sitting with you guys! Between the bear smell, undead groaning, and the Barbarian’s sweaty axe… I’ll just stick with my elemental isolation, thanks!”

Please, don’t remove the campfire.

Thank you.

Have the campfire and just go to the new D3 screen after you click on a class.

Bro, don’t. Don’t beg them. They purposely removed the campfire to rub it in the game will be anything other than D2 from now on. It’s them sending a message.

That’s something that doesn’t really matter at this point. A game that gets worse and worse with each update…

BTW Someone posted not long ago that you couldn’t gift D4 this is false as I gifted my landlord with base/cheapest version, OTH Voice of Hatred doesn’t seem to be giftable like the base game is :unamused: why who the :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: knows

Yes and we need to let them know that we don’t like that it’s the purpose of feedback

any camp fire is way too far away from a soy latte plus the devs have never played any old diablo games so there’s no nostalgic reason to keep it

But…cough……the….cough hack splutter….the smoke

It’s to dusting the game from D3. How else would you know, duh?

OOOOOOOOh my heppi kempfia kempfia kempfia
OOOOOOOOh my heppi kempfia kempfia NICE !!!

OOOOOOOOh my heppi kempfia kempfia kempfia

niahahahahaaaa :woman_elf:

They name their announcement and reveal videos “Campfire Chats”. What an irony…

Yes, no one asked for this, an unnecessary change. The bonfire, besides being classic, is simple to introduce. A 10-year-old boy knows what a barbarian and a wizard are.

I can’t help but think of the campfire scene from Blazing Saddles. Would love to imbed it, but Blizzard doesn’t let us do that. So I’ll cheat “https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPIP9KXdmO0&ab_channel=Movieclips”.

LOL, so much methane could lit up the whole camp!

I didn’t even make the connection. So many dots xD

+1 put the campfire back, dweebs. Leave the carousel in at the bottom, to give 2 ways of interacting with character selection. Esc brings you back to campfire - easy. It’s about the only RP worth engaging in.

Edit: did these toons do anything when you switched between them, pre-PTR? (À la Druid gang sign, Necro ectoplasm flex, etc in D2)… I don’t remember anymore. I guess in D4 they “react” when you mouse over them…? It’s sad how unmemorable it is, whatever it is.

I think by removing the campfire this entire dev team has proven once and for all that they know nothing about this game series or the community.

The campfire is still there. You can see the embers of a crackling fire in the foreground in front of every character.

Personally, I like the change. The new character animations are great, and it’s a format more forward compatible with future expansions. They could’ve squeezed the Spiritborn into the existing campfire scene. But a Paladin, too? And maybe an eighth class?

Keep in mind the campfire is not some iconic series requirement. It was incorporated in the character select screen of D2, and only D2. It tapped into the nostalgia at launch, but I think most would agree nothing else in D4 is anything like D2, then and now.

Time to move on.
