I fought Ashava twice, once without being level 25 and once as level 25 as a Frost Shard Sorc with about 25% poison resistance. Being less than 25 without a solid set of gear was tough, and I was also learning the fight which made it seem like BS up front. But, with enough resistances and some time at level 25, the boss didn’t one shot (poison included). The tells before attacks were enough for me to respond to but still required a solid reaction time, and I began to learn how his attacks worked and developed my own strategy which was extremely satisfying.
I really enjoy this fight with the current difficulty and I found myself respecting mechanics because of the damage Ashava deals for making mistakes. In my opinion with some survivability in the form of resistances this can be managed, at the cost of potions. Potions allowed me to make a few mistakes without dying and playing well/staying alive to get more potions on phase changes felt really good. Nerfing this to be a loot pinata will remove the challenge that I found so enjoyable.
Please don’t change Ashava.

im sure that more higher level players will make it more consistent, I did start to get the hang of the attacks near the end, but for me right now I find the issue is that you need multiple high level players who understand the fight to stand a chance at it and since it appears you only get 2 chances in the day its like opps you didnt get 10 level 25s and instead got a bunch of level 20s? not a chance.
That and the fact that going back to repair gear gives you a whole new instance just means you can lose totally outside of your control.

this was my issue. we only get a handful of chances for beta to give it a try. my lobby had only 3 lvl 25 people. the rest between 17 and 20. We did our best but it felt terrible. Really might want a minimum level on that. idk seems pretty clear its tuned to be really hard without a good group. extend the timer by 5 minutes maybe? I have no issue with the mechanics or damage.
Maybe make it more frequent then twice a day, you can only get the rewards once a week, one spawn was when I was working the other was when I would normally be asleep, I see no reason why it couldnt be like every hour

its not about the tells, or the fact you will kill it.
its the fact that the bosses swipe must be bugged, it legit should not 1 shot you if you dont spam 5/5 potions.
that is the problem, if they change anything it should just be the swipe damage, the rest of the fight is manageable and easy to do, its just the leap away with that swipe, that is a bit harsh
Exact same story here. At first I thought it was unfair, but now I really like it. It’s good that these bosses offer a challenge. On second glance I think Ashava is tuned really well.
besides the swipe, i dont think it should 1 shot, OP saying it doesnt is dreaming, i am unsure HOW it didnt end up 1 shotting them, with the DOT and the initial damage.
one shot even with 40% poisen resit plus the elixir of poisen reset. it needs tuning for sure.
do you think maybe the bosses damage scales as if people are partied like it did in old School Diablo?
With 5 potions and spamming them as fast as possible without any special kind of defensive build on my rouge I could barely survive one swipe, and that was only like half the time I could pull that off, but then I have no potions so Im as good as dead. The swipe is way to powerful and punishing for just taking one single attack
I didn’t really see any problem with the fight, it was kinder fun. Sure you’ll die occasionally even with good gear, especially if you get caught with evade cooldowns but I did it first time with my hydra sorc, and I went point blank range occasionally too which seemed to be a good strategy to avoid some of the frost waves.
The only thing I would honestly change is to add a repair NPC in the area because I can see what is going to happen a mile off at launch, people will leech once their gear is about to break and don’t want to risk losing out on loot drops.
Or just remove the gear breaking entirely, its basically a pointless hold over of previous games, just remove it

I remember when diablo 3 actually did that, in early early diablo 3 the cost of fixing gear was actually really high and it completely discouraged raising the difficulty, it could easily be more expensive to farm then just not.
I doubt they want to create the situation in D4 that its more valuable to not play the game.
Just did it as Barbarian. I had bleeds, iron skin, rupture. Plenty of sustain. I died three times learning the attacks. Man that was fun… brought a smile to my face watching everyone runnin around like headless chickens for a bit, and get one shotted left and right. Laughing while reviving people… I really hope they don’t nerf it either. That was so much fun.
You also could have just used flame shield’s immunity to remove the poison if you accidentally got hit. Classes with an immunity cooldown can shrug off Ashava pretty easily. Sorc has two if you get flame shield and ice block (deep freeze I think it’s called) later on. Necro has one.
At higher levels there’s also other survival tools people won’t have seen at 25 like stacking several DR sources on some Druid builds to have very high damage reduction % or combing the item that makes damage hit resources before health with high resource generation (common for Barbs especially I think).
It’s not clear yet how many items have changed/been removed/added since the closed betas, but regardless it’s safe to say your experience at 1-25 probably doesn’t represent what you’ll experience at higher levels with paragon boards + more skill points + more items (including uniques and drop only legendaries that don’t appear in the codex).
I highly doubt they’ll be changing Ashava since it’s not at all different from previous betas and this was the one and only World Boss they chose to show off in the open betas.
So I did the Ashava fight just now, my gear breaks it says I can go repair. I come back and I am kicked out of the instance? Is this working as intended? Have a smith stand on the side for the battle only, a lot of peoples gear is going to break during this boss. Loved the boss mechanics how it moves and u have to be alert, really sad I couldn’t finish the encounter
Boss is really easy apart from his bite that takes a ton of health. His slams are easily telegraphed, you can basically avoid all the drag attacks by being close to him, and the breath is easy to dodge.
I definitely think his drags shouldn’t be almost a guaranteed death sentence, but they are easy enough to dodge that I’m not worried about it.
You aren’t supposed to bash your head against the boss. Figure out how his mechanics work and avoid them.
