Donan was killed off in a sillier way than Deckard Cain

People always complain and laugh about how Deckard Cain was killed in Diablo 3 because of the butterfly skill from Magdha. Btw. criticizing that death was justified. It was silly and pointless.

Looking at how Donan died though in D4 is even worse and sillier than what happened to Deckard Cain. Where Deckard Cain was basically just a provider of knowledge in the previous Diablo games and not really being a fighter (and he was old and frail) Donan in D4 was supposed to be a pretty powerful character himself. He had knowledge and considerable combat experience.

And what actually kills or rather “mortally wounds” him? It’s a random zombie/undead trapped in a support column of hell who just grabs him when Donan takes a “closer look” like a complete rookie adventurer.

I think in the competition of most pointless and silly way to go this has to take the top spot in the Diablo games and the only reason no one really critcizes it is that no one really cared about Donan as a character to begin with (which is a pretty negative point regarding the D4 story in general btw.).

to be fair, in any diablo game, most people don’t care about any characters outside of tyrael and deckard cain since they were there for long.

but yes it’s a bad death eitherway

Bring back farnham he was the best

well, farnham was funny in it’s own right :stuck_out_tongue:

Where was farnham in diablo 2 tristram was on fire and only griswold was around

Not confirmed but there is a body in D2 Tristram where he was in D1. Most likely him but does come back in D3 during the Cursed Cellar bounties as an undead.

i knew he was in D3 but he never appeared in D2 he should come back even if in a memory he was my favorite d1 character and those who actually listened to him saw he actually gave points of interest about quests

They killed off Donan and his son but they let that useless bag of bones Prava survive.

It takes a strong independent woman to not die in a silly way.

I also thought the way they killed him off was pretty stupid for what its worth.

Out of everything Donan went through carelessness or not, his death TO ME was at least understandable.

We as human being can Not begin to fathom the trauma and the visions of something so … Scary (Hell) in this case.

Yeah he should of been more careful, but everything he went through… just too much.

I ALSO Believe that People (Players) don’t really care about Donan simply because there is no Bond/Connection especially compared to Deckard Cain.

Cain was in 3 games that players were familiar with. Donan was in one.

It’s like the equilvant of loving/caring for your grandfather who’s been in your life 90% of the time, helping/educating you vs. a long lost Uncle who just died very shortly after meeting him.

I think it was a good idea to keep Prava alive. Just another reason to avoid getting caught by her and her silly fanatics.

He was depressed and wanted to die

He was already old and loosing himself, even before all the living hell that happened to him.

But after his son’s death - the destruction of everything else and his legacy - that BROKE him. He was in distress, unfocused.

It’s not impossible when in such a state to make stupid mistakes. And on that occasion he did. And I feel like he himself wasn’t there and then, fully in the moment. He buckled up just so he can be of service to the cause, but that’s it. Feels like he was more in for a ride in Hell rather than on his 110% to survive.

Some of you see it as Blizzard’s fault for writing such a bad, shallow ending.

I see it as a broken man, beaten by life and currently elongationally distressed and making a mistake due to all the crap he had undergone. Something which is very normal to happen to someone in such a state.

Maybe if he had more time to recover… but even then - it’s questionable, given the fact that he’s at the end of his life.

WHAT I want to know…is that since Donan die… obviously his soul left his body… IN HELL!

Where did his soul go??

Did it become trapped in a pillar there? I most certainly don’t think his soul went to so the Angerous Council, lol (or what ever you call those group of High Heaven Angels).

I miss him too. IMO, I think what they did to Leah was more tragic then Donan… eh…

Donan was hastily killed as headcount reduction practice at the end part of the story so everyone could focus on the main characters. It happened in many low-cost production shows. Just no one bothers to write a longer script to ensure Donan has a glorious send-off.

Just like the maiming of the girl by some random trash mobs.
