Anyone please help me explain what are key ideas that Barb is designed around?
Barb is Tank: Checked - only class can get up to 500k HP
Barb is DPS: Checked - only class can deal billions dmg
Barb is Support: Checked - only class has skills to buff other players
Barb is Jungle: Checked - can jump directly to enemies from off screen. Best gang skill ever.
Barb is Mutant: only class with 6 Hands
Please !!! Devs please come to share us your words of wisdom.
I don’t think so. I don’t feel any fun from a low quality class design.
I’m a loyal anti-fan of that 6 hands class since the season 1.
Yep, D4 is just proving that I’m right season after season. That design basically created a monster that no way to balance.
Lol Go away Dragon. All the other classes have their own abilities, skills and advantages. I have a very powefrul barb bash build and kill a lot in pvp but now and again an even stronger rogue or druid comes along and I die. THEY have managed it. Cant you? Use your mind. Create a build that can stand upto them. It is possible as I have seen it. If your build is dying easily the error is on YOU!
Never played d3 then if you did not know the barb magic in diablo. Barb was top of the ladder every season in 4 man groups and hit it a few season solo.
But they were pretty garbage in d2 too. But no one really cared about balance back then still played garbage barbs or necros just for something to do.
Technically Barbs are light armor high HP high burst mobile front line fighters.
I have no idea what Barbs are supposed to be in D4.
Even in D2 they had some of these elements. Berserk skill for instance. Weapon Block Vs a Paladins massive shield block rate. Armor was similar due to Iron Skin but whatever. Barbs thew stuff well which also matches their theme with move speed and leaps.
Armor is the easiest thing to max stack. There is also no difficulty to max stack resistances.
So basically, Barbs have HP / DMG / Mobility / Support / CC. Almost everything while no weakness.
D2 was not very nice to any weapon builds. The whole hit rating thing was always broke you needed SO much to hit cap when spells had 100 percent hit naturally. Really well equipped WW barb or beserk felt good till you got nailed with an iron maiden or a nilithak snake then not so much.
I recall some annoyances with Reflect though I also recall that being a perk of Berserk. It did Magic damage which could not be reflected by any means or resisted.
I do recall immune enemies being a massive pain after the synergy patch though where everyone was pretty much forced to use one element. I loved my Frozen Orb + Chain Lightning Sorc before that patch. Far more active skills.
It’s compensation for years and years of torment where all you got to do as a barb is shouting at everyone for HP/Mana/Skill Buff while they kill billions of enemies in a balze before you can even land one punch.
