Hello, I am L45, playing Tier 1, ( I started out on T2 but read that T1 would be faster to level).
I have been getting loot drops for L28-36, with nothing I can really use at my level. I get a lot of Legendary drops and many “loot goblins” but the drops just aren’t useful to my build, ( I followed Icy-Veins Twisted Blade build). The mobs are getting harder but my equipment just isn’t keeping up with my level. Any constructive help appreciated. Cheers
I actually got 2 legendary items that were upgrades from the Obol merchant
Yes it does. Some legs only drop in WT4.
It does affect loot drops, but not necessarily loot levels (at least what I could tell). Honestly the biggest jump I saw was either T2 to T3, or T3 to T4. If you can still kill stuff at your level I wouldn’t worry an insane amount about loot. You really should just focusing on how to stay alive and kill stuff in T2 first.
Twisting Blade build, you should be able to kill everything in T2 with a butter knife.
No difference in drops between WT1 and WT2.
WT3 can drop sacred items. Sacred items have better stats.
WT4 can drop ancestral items. Ancestral > sacred.

wow thanks for the fast replies. So should I not expect to get loot at or near my level?
In wt1, wt2 and wt3, your chances of finding a wt4 unique (grandfather, shako, doombringer, Andy’s) or anything else interesting are 0.0%. In wt4, your chances of finding them are also 0.0%, so no, there is no real difference.

I’m just concerned about getting level appropriate gear at this point.
If you can, go up to T2. If you can survive the content and kill the monsters comfortably. You should aim for that for every tier increase. Any tier increase you can make will up your chances of getting useful gear.
@ Salvation, to be honest I am struggling with T1 mobs at this point. I am following a Twisted blade build but taking lots of damage and flying through the health potions.
Yikes, that shouldn’t be a thing. I’m running Twisting Blade too, but I didn’t follow a conventional build because I noticed them all running a “glass cannon” type build and didn’t want to get 1 shot for every misstep.
Did you take 3 points into Sturdy and 3 points into Siphoning Strikes? I found those both were surprisingly nice to mitigating damage.
@Salvation, I had not put any points into either of those abilities
I had 4 point to use so I will try that and see how it works out. Thank you for your replies
Yes and no. I have to get back to work, but I’ll come back to edit this when I have more time.
No problem, friendo. Yeah, I think the “main stream” builds don’t use either, but that + Dark Shroud free procs made me able to tank at least a bit.
Twisting Blades shouldn’t be struggling at all. It’s one of the fastest EARLY specs around.
At level 86 I’m still flying through content.
There’s def some tweaks you’re going to have to make.
Have you gotten the Bladedancer’s Aspect in Jalal’s Vigil Dungeon in Scosglen?
That’s 100% priority for TB.
Also: For defensive stats - Do Not focus on “Resistances” - they’re broken and don’t work worth a damn.
You want - Armor%, Damage Reduction%, Reduced Damage from Close%/Far%
Good luck to you. Feel free to msg in-game if you ever need a hand with anything.

World Tier does affect loot drops in a way. For example, different unique items are locked to world tier 3 and 4. And you won’t really see sacred items until world tier 3 and ancestral in world tier 4.
Beyond that, the quality of item drops is determined by the monster level once your reach world tier 4. Blizzard has stated this to be otherwise, but many of us have tested this far more than we should have and Blizzard is completely wrong. They don’t even know how their own game works and it’s obvious no one on their team has tested it.
This is why we level 90 to 100 players are farming normal dungeons for gear and gold. Because there is a cap on the monster levels as to where loot quality increases stop happening. We are just waiting for the devs to either figure this out for themselves or listen to our feedback.
I had the same experience. Cleared out mobs in a blink but made out of paper. I changed to piercing shot and is working out better for me.
@MageCraft, thanks for the reply. No I haven’t made it to that dungeon, yet
I will put it on my priority list. Thanks again.
There’s a lot of wrong information and a lot of information out of context. If you’re level 40ish in world tier 1, that’s fine. The required level of the gear that stops is not important. The only thing that matters is the gears power level, which doesn’t make a difference in terms of level. The only difference between world tier 1 and 2 is a very small xp / gold drop amount. The loot is exactly the same. You can try t2, but the minute it starts feeling like a challenge, you should drop back down. It’s more efficient killing 2 mobs at 100% xp than 1 at 120%. Once you are 45ish, you should start testing those waters though because the sooner you can get into t3 the better as it opens up the end game along with sacred / unique items. Sacred items drop upwards of 700 power level (again, the levels do not matter). I had full sacred gear that wasn’t going to get much better outside of min maxing (meaning they were all over 700pl with relevant stats) by the time i was 55. I didn’t get a single upgrade going from 55-60 spite finding items that had higher character level requirements. At 60-63 you should start looking into trying the t4 capstone dungeon (you’ll know you’re ready if you can handle a lvl 20 nightmare) and soon as you can do normal dungeons at t4 (the monsters are 73 if you’re under that level you can start working towards ancestral which is closer to 800 plevel and the gear you’ll be finishing your character with. Hope that helps.
@jdinflames, Thanks for the constructive post, I really appreciate it.
I was able to adjust my build (siphoning strikes and Sturdy) and get the Bladedancers Aspect, and picked up 2 legendary drops that I can actually use from the Obol vendor, and I also upgraded all of my equipment, and did a lot better today.
Thanks you all for your responses… Cheers.
