Hello fellow Wanderers!
I haven’t played since S1.
Does the game feel more casual friendly like D3 or is it still closer to D2?
I paid full price for D4 but I just can’t bring myself to play it. I want to be able to turn my brain off.

Season of Loot was better , the Iron Wolves Quest gave some decent items. I made it to level 100 as a casual so I had fun. The fact they lock all the Bosses behind Mat gathering is ridiculous but whatever. Its still NOT play your way - you can only do end game if u follow a META build.
The state tempering/gear is in? Lol not even close.
Funny how this season is titled “Loot Reborn” when it is literally just “Aspects Reborn.” Loot is still a problem. Im still gathering massive amounts of legendaries in a session and pondering over them and which ones are better that takes an unreasonable amount of time.
Its casual friendly. It just isnt “i played for 8 hours and the seasons done” casual.
You can definitely turn your brain off but there is RNG. So its very different from D3 that way.
I’m the same I hadn’t played since Season 1. Its as close to D3 as its ever been.
Levelling to 100 can be done in 6-10 hours.
Loot is abundant and managing aspects is a breeze.
The pit can be farmed the same way GRs were, however there is still a slight danger of bosses killing you if you completely switch your brain off.
I just add a bit more toughness so I’m immune to 1 shots, then setup youtube on the other monitor.
How? You slap on the first you find with at least 2 resonable affixes, then you keep those until you get a 200 higher ilevel, excep weapon keep that updated. Then when 925 stsrts dropping you search for bedt possible affixes or good enough. After that you don’t care unless it has a GA. Only exception at that point is maybe a couple of slots like amulet that have some rare affix you really want.
Hit the blacksmith, dismantle rare trash. Pop over to the vender, sort, sell all the obvious trash, tgen glance at the remaining 5-6 items that are inevitably trash and don’t even sell those. You drop them on the ground and walk away.
Causal friendly from 1-100 but I personally think it’s way harder to min-max a character now.
What
This is a Game. That usualy requieres a working Brain as games need you to follow rules and mechanics.
I play casually because I mostly play mmos and some fps which take up most of my time. I will say this season has been awesome for me because I finally got to lvl 100 and highest Pit I have done is lvl 80 and farming NMD 100 and solo Duriel. So I am very happy. I am playing a powerful class though which I don’t care because it is letting me do things I haven’t been able to do in the other seasons because I don’t put in the time here like many others.
Depends on how “casual” you are…
If you go to the internet and find some meta build for quick games, this season is very casual (aiming for pit101, S4 is almost like D3).
That’s fine since casuals don’t worry about min-maxing. D4 is by far the most casual it’s ever been. Jump in and have fun, OP.
Well, additive dmg, multiplicative dmg, vulnerable, berserking, bleed dmg, dmg reduction etc… It’s not rocket science, but you can certainly not just turn your brain off.
You’re in the right place.
Nah this game is streamer time intensive. If you want all great gear with ubers and alot of GA with great tempering and masterworking. Definately not a casual friendly game.
That is not all that bad. You could take the time to do all on a long timeframe. The catch: the gear you farmed probably wont matter in a couple of months and balance change… rinse and repeat.
A game not for my taste due to its time investment for temporary items and useless eternal realm. D2 is far more for my liking.
I’m casual and this is the first season i’ve played more than one character because finding useful gear isn’t an improbability.
I ran a druid up pit 80+ and farming 70+. Killed Tormented Duriel.
Made a necro. Can’t play minion necro due to console bug, so i just got my iron wolf shard.
Endgame difficulty is set for barbarian. So i made a barb. My barb has tormented duriel/andariel on farm. Cleared pit 101. Farming pit 91.
Did as much as i care to on barb. Now i’m leveling rogue.
What you’re saying is not something that true casual players would consider (because in fact, you’re already a core player). Casual players do not care too much about 2/3GAs, nor do they care about whether MasterWork’s Grand Upgrade is/not critical. When a player starts to care about these, they have already left “casual”.
Just like I am a core player in D4, but in D3, I am completely casual and don’t care about ancient equipment. I can enjoy seven days by copy a meta build on ladder.
TBH initially thought this was some kind of a troll/ironic/sarcastic topic or something lol, but the matter of facts still is:
Why don’t you just install the game and try ?
If you’re not in a rush and not caring about the BEST gear, stick to T2 the main mission again…been having a good time doing that this season.
i still enjoy playing this season, i only wish they just skip s5 and extend s4 even longer to expansion release
Right on, buddy. D4’s been hella streamlined after S1 so it’ll fit you like a glove.
D4 on, brain off; Lock in
