Does anyone know if D4 benefits from the X3D CPUs? The 7800X3D releases in a few days, so those of us who are building a new PC over the next 2 months for D4 should consider this. I haven’t been able to find any CPU benchmarks for D4 beta. I’ve only seen benchmarks showing that the game is GPU-bound especially at 4k, but I wonder if the X3D still helps with the 1%/0.1% lows and the stuttering issues?
i noticed they switched from an amd preference to an nvidia preference. used to have fidelity fx(amd) in the options now its dlss(nvidia) instead.
idk if that relates to this post at all tho xD
edit: *apparently no preference, it shows one or the other depending on your card as someone informed me down in this thread.
I just got the 7900 xtx and realised my cpu isn’t up to par. Definitely going to get a 7800x3d and 32gb ddr5 with a PCIe 4.0 x4 ssd. Would like to know this too.
My 7900xtx worked fantastically during the beta. I heard a lot of complaints from nvidia GPU users but I can say for sure if anyone is considering the 7900xtx it felt extremely smooth for me during beta with 16gb ddr4 3200mhz and an i7 8700k overclocked each core to 4.9ghz.
The OP is referring to a cpu guys, not their gpu.
X3D should be very good for D4. It’s a good CPU for MMO’s in general. Im planning on getting 7800X3D as well with new PC before D4 release. Assuming its going to be available in the first months. It will be superior to even 13900K for gaming.
The downside is that DLSS only works on nvidia cards, but FidelityFX works with all cards. AMD are some real champs.
AMD FSR is still there. When your system has a GPU capable of using DLSS the game will show DLSS in the options instead.
But DLSS make the graphics “less pretty” right even with the settings for “most pretty”? …oh it was called Quality. It just makes the game less quality with more FPS(performance) right? at least that is what I think of it…
Isn’t this already available (like making your setting less than high/ultra etc…)…so sometimes I wonder what is the need for DLSS lol except for some fancy sounding technology stuffs…haha.
All upscaling methods will inevitably present artifacts, some more noticeable in certain areas or with certain motion/visual elements on the screen. It’s up to you to decide whether you think the end result is acceptable or not.
did you ever find an answer to this? does the extra cache help, or just a higher clock speed. i’m looking to build a new pc before release as well.
I personally took the board out of my toaster and can play this game. It smells a bit hot at times and there is this funny popping sound. But that is how I know its time to eat.
Does a 7800x3d have much of an advantage over a 7600x? to play in 4k.
Easy. Don’t overclock your memory. But if you do insist on overclocking, make sure main board bios is up to date.
I’m upgrading my pc to a 7800x3d system and pretty anxious to see how it does next beta. I have my doubts on how much an x3d cpu benefits from overclocked memory regarding D4 specifically. I’ll for sure see what difference it makes on my system.
As to x3d vs AMD non x3d or vs Intel, I’m not sure how much the l3 cache adds at high resolution. But it would be interesting to see if an AMD non x3d would need to overclock memory to keep up with the 7800x3d. I’m the type to hold on to a build for years, so the power efficiency at the same performance vs others is what sold me.
Imo you should first wait to see if the performance optimization patch (hopefully) coming with the Server Slam isn’t enough to deal with the stuttering.
Always keep in mind that the game isn’t even released yet and a lot of stuff will change.
It’s very easy to overspend on the CPU for a gaming PC especially when you are aiming for high end, pick up something like a 4090 and a 4K monitor and suddenly end up in the weird spot where - depending on the game you are playing - the difference between a midrange and a highend CPU can become like 2-3% in performance while costing you like 200 bucks more.
There’s been incidents of this occurring at factory settings with no overclocking. Like Steve mentions in the video, they had to try really hard to recreate the issue but that doesn’t mean its out of the realm of possibility.
Update bios.
But just manually set CPU SOC voltage to 1.2-1.25 and you should be safe.
Problem happens when everything is on auto and EXPO is enabled. The MB just sends more voltage than it needs.
^^ that, theres another major bios update coming out around the server slam I believe as well.
After the beta, has anyone noticed if the 7800x3d brings any benefits?
is it worth upgrading?
I upgraded from a 8700 to a 7800x3d and from 2070 to a 4080 so the difference is obviously enormous. But its hard to tell how much the CPU is doing. Maybe you can find some D4 “benchmarks” if people were testing different hardware on D4.
