I’m an ice shard nova sorc and on my weapon I have damage to chilled and I was always under the impression all frost skills can chill and that my ice shards chilled and also that frozen mobs are considered chilled but I found out ice shards don’t apply chill.
So are frozen mobs considered chilled for the benefit?
And can ice shards freeze mobs without chill?
Yes. Frozen is considered chilled
And ice shards only freeze if you have a talent that gives chance to freeze, use frost bolt as an enchant, or have lucky hit to freeze on gear/talent since Ice shards don’t chill. The only skills that chill have the “chilled” tag
Thank you for responding! Would you be able to tell me whether ice shard can freeze mobs or not please. A lot of my build is around dmg to frozen and I know for sure frost nova freezes and it’d be nice to have another application to freeze aside my chance to freeze stat somewhere on my gear

There is the talent “Snap Freeze” near blizzard on the tree, lucky hit from certain items, or run Frost Bolt as an enchantment for the chill/freeze. Frostbolt as an enchant isn’t that bad in the early game, or for bosses since it staggers faster. Frostbolt enchant can be a great mana battery with the right talents and aspects on gear, but isn’t worth the damage loss at higher levels. Also you could use a secondary ability to chill. Blizzard is a very popular ability on certain build for this reason, and the Blizzard ice spike aspect that goes with it
