Now on Battlenet.
Entire reason I begged my parents to buy a PC, lol
Was exposed to Diablo at a friends house and have been playing ARPGs ever since =)
First game I ever burnt copies for my friends. Back when CD keys didn’t exist. Wait I just realized there are kids today who have no idea what a CD key is… I feel old.
Played it on an old 486DX with a whole 8 megs of ram. Installed via floppy disk if I remember correctly. We only had shi%$# dial-up back in the day, so I never bothered with anything online. It and TES2: Daggerfall kept me well occupied for many months back in the days when I was discharged from the Navy due to an injury. My first Blizard game. I picked up Warcraft 2 later on and loved it.
I miss the total randomness of most of the quests and levels. That was a huge selling point. And sadly, something they have not kept in the latest version. The map is now always the same, with the same quests in the same places all the time. Dungeons are 99% the same each time you run them. It gets boring after a while. Maybe D5 will bring it back.
Remember playing that back in 96 or 97 with my brand new HP pentium III 333mhz, 64mb ram, 1.5gb 5400rpm hd lol. Everyone were so jealous i had a 4mb video card lol. Good times
first diablo i played was d2 1.09 for like a week before it got updated to 1.10.
Can I transfer my GoG version to Battlenet?
D1 Hellfire MOD is top 10 game for me all time. Its still playable.
I remember my first computer…
I was there Gandalf, 3000 years ago! ![]()
It was the game and still is by far. It fuelled a gaming craze in my family and spread like wildfire in my college.
Good times!
We didn’t have a PC, so I bought it for PS1. Played the hell out of that game.
Then moved on to D2 as I had moved on to PC land by that time. Played that till not long after 1.10 came out, and switched to mods.
I played it at a buddy’s house on his parents’ computer, which was still an uncommon thing to have at the time. I got a copy for my playstation, and it along with Warcraft 2 ate up a ton of my time. I see they released WC2 and it’s expansion on the launcher today as well. I bought those off GoG a while ago, but it would be nice to have everything on the Blizzard launcher finally.
I was 6 years old when I first played D1, almost
my pants during my first encounter with The Butcher.
Playing online was a distant thought back then although I could if I tried I guess. Also, everyone was playing a cracked build.
I think my first true online play was the OG Counter Strike with like 100+ ms ping on a dial up.
Hmm I might buy this for the sound track and the guitar music I always loved in it.
Yes, I played the Playstation version back then. The Butcher spooked me.
Hell yes.
But, is this a version that is playable on widescreen and does not make you click your mouse 10 times per second?
Used to “play” this at a mates house. I say play loosely because it involved me sitting next to him pressing number keys for potions at the last second while he actually played
I also remember his parents had a keyboard cover and made us wash our hands before we could touch the computer…
This and wolfenstein were the first real pc games I ever got into
I still have the original CD of Diablo 1 somewhere…
Wow about time I’m surprised it took them so long to bring it to bnet. I mean of course it was always one of those most hacked online multiplayer games back in the day though lol. I remember getting it when I was a teenager in the 90s at launch on an old p2 300 64mb 4mb card 4gb hdd like someone had previously said. I enjoyed the heck out of it with other kids and their parents in the neighborhood on dial up lol or we’d do like LAN/Modem games or what not. Stayed up all night during the summer playing it and how scary the butcher was the first time lol. Then I played the heck out of d2 for years until 1.10 then I barely touched it over the years after the big change, dabbled in it a little bit here and there but wouldn’t last long just missed the pre 1.10 days. Played D3 til RoS then played RoS for like a year then quit before seasons ever came about. I did buy the gog re release though as well as d2r but never really played it much. Just on D4 for now but I think after season 4 I might be done til maybe an xpac or new class or big change comes otherwise just really doing it for the lore and trying out each class to the max each season but burnout happens and getting old so kind of have to casual it or retire. Always will be loyal to the series as much as possible though. Always has been one of my favorite series to play. They also have a web port of it you can play in your browser lol the shareware version but if you have the MPQ file from your original owned game CD or gog edition you can unlock the full game. Just google search diablo web edition should be the first hit Diablo GitHub Pages. They had it up for years now. Just gives an alternative can play in your browser lol. ![]()
