I was wondering - if I play a ranged Rogue that only uses Bows/Xbows/etc… do the stats on the two melee items I have equipped count toward the total output while using a Bow?
Or do I have to be actively using melee skills for those stats to activate, which would then deactivate my Bow stats?

They work they are effectively stat sticks.

I imagine at some stage they may have to address the extra stats and aspects for barbs due to complaints, but who knows what direction that may swing.
Barbs are strong, but not the op gods people think. The balance team, opposed to the way some believe, isnt totally incompetent. Barbs have been (at least attempted) to be balanced with this.
Its not like they went oh crap… barbs have an extra slot what have we done!!! How did noone catch this??
They are strong, but nothing like most think. What makes them so op in pvp is their skills and builds in general, not the fact they have an additonal stat stick.

Interesting, so the solution to melee competing VS AOE caster spam was “More of everything”.
Should have added a ring slot for every finger as well!

At least that power has to be earned and not given though. Nothing wrong with being the strong endgame class if the power is earned and not just the result of overtuning.

I think most people know, they just don’t know how to have reasonable grounded converations anymore. Everything has to be an emulation of “INSANE barbarian weapon system BREAKS THE GAME!!!” while making some stupid shocked face.

At present, there is no competition as CC (mostly AoE) effects do not work on some bosses. So, you use AoE on mobs and Melee on Bosses. This has led to complaints that we need more skill bars as people do not want to spend even 5 seconds switching skill around.
Rogues are not far behind, only 1 two hand weapon slot is missing.
One affix that usually doesn’t apply to the other weapons is the lucky hit affix (it seems to say “hits with this weapon”)
Complaints because a class is performing well in a primarily PVE game? Barbarian needs the extra stats and Aspects. This balances it being a Melee class that gets hit a lot. Oddly enough though, Sorceror Barrier seems to be better at mitigating damage than Barbarian and should never get touched except for the odd chip damage.
What is going to be apparent however is how much weight Aspects have and dumping it lazily as an “Enchantment” on Gear perhaps is a poor way of going about it.
