The Ash Knight horse armor functionally breaks the Spur ability to such a degree that a mount with this armor is essentially unusable. Please see steps below.
Steps to reproduce:
- Navigate character to any stables
- Interact with the stablemaster NPC to open the mount menu
- Select any Horse mount and equip it
- Select the mount armor tab
- Equip the Ash Knight’s Destrier horse armor
- Exit menus
- Activate the mount ability
- Travel some distance, activating the Spur ability
- Stop movement and idle for some time
- Observe the Spur ability on the action bar
Result:
Two bugs occur here.
- Using Spur at 3 charges exhausts all charges
- Spur down not go on cooldown and does not regenerate charges
Notes:
- This only occurs with the Ash Knight’s Destrier
- Game restarts does not resolve the issue
- Swapping to another horse armor causes Spur to function normally.

I have the same problem. Also, the fiery effect used to be spread all over, but it has been “re-designed” to just the manes and such. This was done AFTER i bought the set.
The uglier re-design and the spur-breaking bug makes the mount armor useless.
Complaining with Blizzard results in typical company-rules-blabber. “Since it is an in-game item you have used, we cannot refund you, also because it is virtual currency, not real money.”
The point i made that i paid REAL MONEY for their needed virtual currency, is being ignored all the time. They keep redirecting me to this forum to complain, so the game developers might take notice and might fix the bug so in time i might “be rewarded with the working mount armor” (literally their words!) Bunch of money-grabbing-smooth-talking-ignorant-fakers!
Anyways, i agree with Original Poster: Don’t buy the mount armor. It’s cosmetically nerfed and broken to render it un-usable. And they will do anything to tell you that refunds, real or virtual currency, is not an option. My 20 dollars worth of digital crap is useless now.
