Do Maxroll Builds Suck?

I’m trying to use their precision arrow end-game build but it kinda friggin’ blows.

Or was precision shot one of the skills that got nerfed in the patch? And if so what’s still a viable rogue build?

There buillds just really rely on you having the gear listed as well which you don’t.

All I know is that I didn’t follow any build guides and I’m having fun and my build is great. People don’t think so, but that’s good, imo. I beat the campaign today. I really enjoyed it. My build doesn’t seem weak, and it always feels like it’s getting more powerful. I’m actually starting to get some good legendaries and it feels good.

Oh, I’m only level 49, atm. Looking forward to 50. I want to unlock the higher tiers.

There have been a million balance changes and so. Not worth looking at most competitive builds, as they’ll be probably nerfed.

Play what you like regardless of its power.

Their twisted blade rogue guide was one I used to compare to other ones as well as read comments from people who had played a lot.

In the end I do my own build. Their leveling build for twisted blades for ex has a ton of survival stuff to it but I almost never die. So I replaced it with movement/offensive stuff and I just kill faster with no downside. The trees and such have so many options and exploring the systems is fun.

Tired of the debate over looking up builds or not though. If you’re so stuck in your own head and have no curiosity about what others are doing then power to you I guess. Likewise if you can only follow what others did with zero curiosity about what else could possibly exist then power to you. Personally I think both sides are wrong.

I’ve been following the chain lightning build guide for my sorc and it’s been doing great so far.

I’ve been reading a lot of threads about how chain lightning is weak but I’ve killed every bosses in story mode in like 2-3 mins and I’m essentially a tank. It has a good mix between DPS and defensive skills. Also killed the Butcher easily when he spawned when I was level 20 something.

I was able to clear the World Tier 2 chapel dungeon to unlock World Tier 3 rather easily. Timing the Ultimate (lightning) is a must though.

So far I’d rate that guide a 8/10. It’s just redundant and gets boring to me.

Some of the builds are highly dependent not just on specific aspects but also on certain stat thresholds you can’t easily get like attack speed crit chance or cooldown reduction.

On some builds like Arc Lash they even have alternative versions before you hit the stat thresholds, though after the nerfs the better build may no longer really be that good.

That’s really bad advice. If your build can’t put out the juice you can’t kill anything to get better gear for stronger builds.

@Arcs
I tried putting my own builds together but I’m just bad at it. My builds typically never end up being able to kill anything or survive long enough to get any hits in, so build guides help. I tweak build guides according to how I play and that typically works, but coming up with something completely original I just can’t seem to pull it off. Like I can’t get a barrage end-game rogue build to do any sort of meaningful damage at tier 3 without significant downtime.

Be better, stop copying and pasting builds.

So choosing a powerful build that will get nerfed 8 hours later is a good advice?

That’s how a lot of these people think funny enough. They want to be excused of all faults when their streamer build gets nerfed. They know deep down if they make their own build and it sucks, it is easily 100% their own fault. If a streamer build “sucks” or gets nerfed, they have their own mental justification of blaming something else.

Like I get we all have jobs and some have to take orders at a job… but why are people so obsessed taking orders on hobbies or things they do own their spare time? I genuinely do not understand this thought process. When I do any hobby, I don’t get excited or any ounce of arousal of taking orders on every single step of the way or barely any form for that matter. A major team game where it’s GIVE and TAKE is the only exception. That or competition.

the core of their builds is fine but i always make a small adjustment and i always end up farming faster

I didn’t see an end game Flurry build for my Rogue so I’m on my own for that. I prefer their guides for seasons but a fresh run through a new game I typically pick what feels good.

I deleted the previous reply I made because I misread what was said because I’m stupid.

On subject however, I do try my own builds at first. Initially they work great. But they start falling apart the harder things get and I don’t know how to tweak them to make them better. Even watching videos from like Kripp and the like on how to buildcraft I still come away not knowing the first thing about it. It’s like math. I never got it and I never will. I know just enough math to not require a helmet the rest of it doesn’t fit in my noggin. So I turn to builds by people who supposedly know what they’re doing for late-game guidance.

They’ve mostly “theory crafted” all those builds and Blizz already nerfed all they said were top tier. I think that’s how they are “balancing” the game.
I’m running their Pulverize druid build and it’s not good, especially since I don’t have yet the key legendary aspect. I am not sure that any build is not weak in this game though. Maybe after you maximize everything it will get better, if you’re still playing.

OP, more often than not, sites like Maxroll and Icy Veins are theory crafted for best results at end-game. However, they may not be the best while leveling. Be sure to check any site for leveling guides first, then switch to your preferred build at (or after) 50, and have gear and aspects to work with.

I’ve heard Maxroll recommends items for builds that aren’t even in the game yet. Items that have been datamined for later content.

Maxroll’s twisted blade build is far from optimal. Their suggested route for the paragon board is almost backwards in terms of which boards to focus on first imo. I just look at what they consider to be BIS for gear at level 100.

Ya I don’t disagree with you and I think that’s pretty common knowledge by now. You’re referencing a post like a month old btw xD

The BIS gear is built around hardcore imo, as it was written by a hardcore player so I don’t even trust it for that tbh.

I think most of these were finalized before the damage buckets were fully understood. So if the build doesn’t have a way to apply vulnerable it probably needs tweaking. For now…
