Do higher tiers of “The Pit” give more/better loot except from the metals?
If not, does this make any sense to get the same amount and quality of items in tier 1 and tier 200?

More loot, yes. Better loot, no.
Once you start dropping ilevel 925 items, there really isn’t another tier. After that, it is all just luck on whether you get the item you want.
They drop Neathiron after 60 just a bit more each level. Since you can’t exchange up between the 3 tiers of mats you should at least play to 61…then there is really no point in continuing unless you want to get your gear to 12/12 faster. Once you are 12/12 there is really nothing else to do other than see what pit you can do up to.
