Well more honest opinions are now out and people that already payed the $40 are already in acceptance mode of what it is.

The only thing I’m really sad about is that they killed the class that I enjoy playing, which is Barbarian.

There were some rough ups and downs for D4, guess you can only stick with SB now or wait for PoE2.

The last few seasons before the expansion I believed that the game was in a path of improvement, I guess there are no cards in the deck anymore

I really think that the “normal” player count of D4 is falling off with the expansion.

Reasons:

  • seasonal players with the base game have been “excluded” from this season, like myself. This usually means you won’t come back next season unless something major happens (which is very unlikely considering Blizzard’s priorities).
  • Eternal players have been treated like a complete joke and possibly will never open the game again.
  • There are no clear numbers, but unless the expansion sales have been way beyond expected, the initial hype will just dry out as any regular launch.
  • Plus you have much more reliable competitors such as GGG coming up with a new game.

So before you were counting in a bigger sample size to keep the game stable. Now it seems that only a small portion of the expansion will stick around as it has been reviewed as mid at best. And there will be more & better arpgs around.

I really don’t see how D4 will keep a healthy population beyond mid 2025

huh? how so? the seasonal related stuff happens in Zarbinet, and the Opals you need you get from the riftwalker, which spawns not only in nahantu, but also in the old regions.

Very simple, I did like 4 Realmwalkers and it’s a meh addition and extremely repetitive gameplay. Plus there’s a board of rewards I don’t know if you can call that “content” really. If you have a SB and you are doing everything new plus the Realmwalkers, it might feel like something. But it just Realmwalkers exclusively is extremely boring.

well its fine to dislike that. To be honest, right now im not a huge fan of the realmwalkers either to be honest. I was just refering to you saying that you are excluded from the season, which isnt the case.

the walkers are just way too slow in my opinion. i mean the opals are kinda cool, but yea, they just feel a little sloggy.

You seem like a reasonable guy that played previous seasons. Realmwalkers as a stand alone seasonal content is very underwhelming. Even PoE launched their best yet seasonal mechanics just a couple of months ago while their studio is mainly focusing in a complete new game. Yes, that’s being clearly put aside by Blizzard there’s no need to say otherwise

yea the seasonal stuff is very little in s6. it doesnt matter that much when you have VoH, as theres a lot new stuff to play with but without its really nothing big.
