Yes, another frustrated eternal realm player. I am hoping all these posts on this topic at least warrant a dev response. The "Eternal doesnt matter or Eternal is the casual crowd " is allowed to have their opinion, even tho I may disagree, but that doesnt change the fact that eternal players are having their progress wiped , YET AGAIN.
At this point, I would even accept Adam Jackson or a mod to come on here and just say, “there is no support for Eternal Realm Players in D4” . At least then there is some clarity and I can move on from this game.
And before the name calling starts - I am far from casual. I have 1000+ hours in this game , nine 100s all with 12/12 masterworked gear and some incredible GA Mythics> I own EVERY cosmetic pack for every class ( so i do support the game monetarily, Moreso than most seasonal players) as well as all mounts and weapon skins.
Most reasonable people feel your pain, endless threads aside. I totally agree. I would rather them just say they are flat out abandoning support for eternal rather than just continuously jacking them up. Not even a remote acknowledgement of “hey guys btw we understand this is tough on eternal and we are sorry about that. more stability in the future.” or something.
for reference, i have 5 100s(deleted 3 80s), about 800hrs of gameplay, and do not buy passes or cosmetics except for the early release D4 pack.
it’s changes to match the new progression and cap levels
And even if you happen to have to grind some new gear, whats the issue with that? Since you have a thousand hours and literally everything, well… now you have something to do in eternal you should be happy for that I guess
This is not correct. New max Ilvl is 800, with current gear being rolled to 540 with the highest rolls for THAT ilvl. So all those max level 2 , 3 , and 4 GA uniques and legs, that we spent hours farming the mats to triple crit, are going to be gone . And what about mythics? I have a GA tyraels that took me forever to MW, and now that is kaput as well
925 item level is not dropping to the current 540. 540 is the new 925 and now there’ll be even more powerful items in the game that weren’t available at the equivalent power level before. At least that’s how I understand it.
So how should eternal be handled? Should it just be locked in place and never get any new gear or item power upgrades?
They’ve stated that the game will heavily revolve around the Seasonal Realms. However what you’re seeing now are base changes to the game which affect all realms regardless.
It is a live service game, which means it will constantly go through various changes. Especially when a new expansion comes out. There isn’t a live service game to date that hasn’t gone through some massive changes after it released.
Now we’re seeing more dramatic changes due to how poorly the game was originally released. So give or take several years (yes I said years), hopefully most of the major changes to the base game will be implemented, and it will come down to seasonal gimmicks and balance changes with every new seasonal patch.
Now if you don’t want to wait that long I don’t blame you, or anyone else. However if you do decide to stick around, just know that changes that may cause your eternal realm characters to have to refarm items, or change builds, etc. will be a staple moving forward. Pretty much until they put the game into maintenance mode many years from now.
They will never say this because it would be terrible PR. They don’t really have to say it though. Looking at their behavior tells you that they don’t support eternal at all.
I play on eternal when I’m not doing the seasons. I’m fine with the way they handle eternal because I look at it as a reason to play those characters again. However, I haven’t put in the kind of time other eternal players have to get near perfect gear - and with the way they treat eternal, I never will.
for me, like many eternal players with heavy farm and perfect gear, we can restart all again with this xpac, or going the 15 november in another place.
Exactly, it’s a dead kingdom, leave the eternal kingdom alone. Every season has incentives to play there, I completed all the battle passes myself, there’s no need to end the eternal for that.
I like playing with my old characters, with fun builds. That doesn’t stop me from playing in seasons where there is always more trade and more materials and even replenishing sparks.
-I think it’s terrible to change items below the maximum. Bad choice and I’ll spend fewer hours in the game now, as I’ll only play season, which ends with 2 weeks.
This doesnt reflect reality. Of course they support eternal. Eternal is getting lots of new updates. Some of you are just so melodramatic over a silly game.
I wish they would just remove realms all together and just call the server “Diablo 4”.
It’s not like they would lose money on Battle Passes etc. They can just apply whatever seasonal powers to the game for all temporarily. They could still release Battle Passes with loads of unlockable cosmetics, but make the Battle Pass leveling different than regular character leveling. So many things they can do different than “Hey, just delete your old and make a new.”
All equipment will be obsolete, as they wanted. They can simply leave it on the new roof. Why not? There will always be new goals, new constructions, etc.
I made a post about that about a week or two ago well not really a post more like a responce about how the current mythics would become obsolete via expansion or patch. But we will have to wait and see. I would like to be wrong about that after all, We all did alot of grinding to get tthem.
It’s been 2 seasons of massive changes that require near total refarming, including refarming mythics. This will be season 3.
3 seasons back to back of incredibly intrusive changes to loot.
Too much. If you’re going to do these types of reworks you do it all at once so you don’t piss the playerbase off and drive people away because what’s the point if your hard work is going to get trashed again next season? (on Eternal realm that is)
The devs screwed up bad here and while I normally am not one to harp on Devs too harshly this time they kinda deserve it. Who thought this boneheaded implementation was OK? Because they’re not qualified to be working in their current role. Get them back on database work and get people who think things through to completion on ideas.
