that’s a technicolor with broadcom, should be solid. do you have any odd ping issues if you were to run a constant pingplotter test or another app that does a constant ping?
also, if you’re having disconnects it’s worth a shot adjusting your tcp windows settings.
this can be undone easily / restored as the app makes a backup automatically of what you had.
google search tcp optimizer. recommended optimal setting. if this does nothing for you then revert the changes and delete the app no harm.
Yes, I’ve used WinMTR and Pingplotter, both present packetloss and/or high latency spikes at all but the first and second hop. This only seems to happen when I ping D4 servers. WoW Central server I get minimal packet loss and no latency spikes.
Not having disconnects, just a massive lag spike fairly often. Connection can be rubber bandy at times but is otherwise smooth.
can you run pingplotter and share the image/results to the share site?
if so, feel free to use paint to scribble out your ip or the ip nearest to you if you don’t feel comfortable. but the images/pings are helpful.
also, make sure you right click the columns and add “max latency” in there as well
The hops after #2 are also going to be in your ISP’s network until you reach Blizzard’s routing peer—usually several hops later.
I also ran the same test, I have minimal packet loss, but the response time slows slightly.
That being said, for me this was not an issue AT ALL until the patch and then the season dropped. Now the servers are less reliable ( For me ) than closed battlenet was at launch of D2 ( The original ).

There’s nothing wrong with my ISP or the number of hops. We need you to fix the constant dropped connections. The game is no fun when you’re constantly kicked out. Either that or it just crashes completely. When is a fix coming for this?

I can also report an unacceptable number of frequent disconnects since the latest patch dropped. I would only sparingly have an issue before. Now, I can’t make it through a single dungeon without getting kicked. Sometimes I’ll get disconnected, have to wait for my character to log out, then get disconnected shortly after I rejoin. Last night I experienced the cycle probably 10 times in less than two hours.
I am at a point where I’m unable to do anything meaningful in the game. It’s just frustrating. The leash gets shorter day by day.

Wr have two people in the same household playing D4 on identical PCs. One get random disconnects, while the other doesn’t.
We can play every other game fine. Only D4 causes problems.

For me I can’t even log in to the game, constantly giving me error code 3000001.
This happens time to time for a day or two then randomly I was able to play again. No other game has this problem not even Diablo 3 which I play presently.
I was able to play yesterday but today it’s the same problem.
I was really hoping these disconnects had something to do with the authentication issues we saw earlier today. Not the case.
We need an official response on this.
Just so you know, Nicole can’t do anything. She is a forum poster like you. She has no power to help at Blizzard’s level beyond trying to offer suggestions and resources that anyone can find with a proper search or a little experience.
And also thousands of hours troubleshooting Blizzard games that came before this one…
But yeah the rest is true!
After more than several months trying to solve this and damn near giving up on the game entirely. I stumbled upon the culprit. Yes IT’S BLIZZARD, Yes It’s also XBOX. I suspect this has something to do with their Ipv4/6 seamless switching tech that caused a ton of problems back in BFA.
Run a full network test on your Xbox, you will likely find a level of packet loss or atleast one function of the test will yield no result. This only seems to occur after loading the game. I had to force manual DNS (which incidentally could have flushed the XBOX DNS) but the long and short of it is to set your primary DNS to 8-8-8-8 and secondary DNS to 8-8-4-4 and boom. No more disconnects.
This could also be applied to desktop PCs… I find this interesting, as it means the traffic may have issues when handed off between IP4/IP6 nodes or something to that effect.
We need more to try this and see if it helps their own situation.
For PCs, you need to open the adapter properties and there are a couple ways to do this:
Windows 11/10:
- Go to Settings->Network and Internet.
- Under here choose the type of connection you are using, WiFi, or Ethernet.
- Once chosen, then go to Hardware Properties (for WiFi). If you click on Ethernet, it should take you to the same page. Look for DNS Server Assignment.
- Click “Edit” change Automatic to Manual, turn on IP4, then enter 8.8.8.8 for Preferred DNS. Click Save.
Alternate method:
- Hit Windows key and R. Type in Control and run it.
- Go to Network and Internet.
- Go to Network and Sharing Center.
- Click Change Adapter Settings.
- Find the connection you are using. Double Click it.
- Go to Properties at the bottom left.
- Look for Internet Protocol Version 4. Double click that.
- Where it says Obtain DNS automatically, change that to “Use the following DNS server address”.
- Enter 8.8.8.8 into the location. You may add 8.8.4.4 to the second box if you wish.
A third option if you are techy enough, you can use your router to assign that IP4 DNS address via the DHCP, you just have to remember to re-acquire the IP address after making the change.
Cautions:
Some networks may need to have the local router as a DNS option for some situations. IN those cases, you may want to set the IP address of your router as your primary DNS, and the 8.8.8.8 as your secondary.
Questions, ask. I will be adding this to my main thread as well.
-For everyone having connection issues of various types: UPDATE 8-7-23
Good luck out there and let us know if this actually helps some of you.
For those that aren’t aware 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 is Google’s public DNS, an alternative is Cloudfare which is 1.1.1.1
The problem is not our network (my DNS settings have always been 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1 because they are solid) The problem is the Hop before going into Blizzard, from google

So i really feel like this is an East coast to West coast routing issue (I am the East coast of Canada) and I have only had these issues pop up in the last week or two, I was playing D4 prior with No Disconnects (Maybe a little lag here or there)
" You can see why that this would garner a lot of angry players. Please take this matter more seriously than your team has been showing us as a player base. "
Legit could not have said it any better then you already di!

Irrespective of singular cases, if it’s a lot of people that are affected at the same time, isn’t it obvious that this is not a player-side connection issue. The issue is @ Blizz’s side. Just admit that and own it.
How hard is it to simply say: Sorry, we messed up on this one & we’re workin’ hard to fix it asap. It’s very nice of you to try to help & obviously it’s your job/function but a lil’ bit of sympathy from Blizz’ side/employees would go a long way! Take care

Nicole helps out on many forums. She does not visit here every day. And she is not employed or working for Blizzard. She is just one of us that helps out others. That’s all.
Want to yell at someone, make sure they have a blue tag. Thanks.

So are we getting a bluepost blizzard that can confirm they are even reading these forums so we can get a fix for this issue that is not on the client side. Ive spent so many hours now trying different fixed from forums. Even bought a new router just to check and no success.
Diablo 4 even ruins my network now. I have 600/50 and when i start Diablo i disconnect after a couple of minutes like so the connection icon looks like it is unplugged and when internet comes back i got like 5/5 internet. Restarting my router fixes it until i start D4 again.
