if there are disconnections in hc it’s unplayable. i just got disconnected for no reason. i have an excellent connection and it’s working normally for everything but still I was just disconnected on hardcore. it’s unacceptable to have a hardcore mode and then have it not be the most stable connection you provide. fortunately my character didn’t die somehow but i was fighting a group of high damage minions when it disconnected. i feel like continuing to play will just result in my dying to the next disconnect. this is the first disconnect i’ve had so far on hc but one is enough to ruin the mode.
Scrolls of escape should automatically activate and portal you to town on a disconnect. I say should because I’m not sure how reliable that functionality is but it’s been in the game since season2.
i found that info on a search after i posted this. thanks. it seems it’s not as bad as i thought and hardcore is playable even with disconnects. i still think they should just make the game go offline if you disconnect and come back online after so dying never happens from a disconnect. i’m gonna keep playing on hc unless the scrolls don’t work for some reason.
Game and server stability has been much better in season 2. There are still occasional crashes and disconnects, but it has been pretty minimal (for me, anyway).
In my experience, it has been working pretty well. Or at least, whether the scroll gets used or not, I haven’t lost a character this season to a crash or disconnect when the problem is on Blizzard’s end; that is, on a hard client crash (i.e. it cleanly exits and you get the error report screen) or when the server goes down, the characters were alive and at full health when I logged in again.
However, if the problem is your PC or ISP - for example, your computer locks up or crashes due to your own system instability, or your own internet connection is disrupted, the character is just going to be standing around in the world until it times out, so it’s easily possible to die in that time. Lost at least 1 or 2 that way in S2.
Blizzard servers are only one part of the problem with disconnects. When you ISP hickups you die. Blizzard doesn’t care about fixing a purely idiotic design flaw and therefore doesn’t want any business from myself and my friends. We’re done with this game until they fix it and maybe by that time we may not want to come back to it. Seasons just plain suck and are not worth playing as all you get is pretty-boy dresses to put on.
I daresay it’s more complicated than you think to accurately detect (in time) when someone has disconnected. But even assuming it was a trivial problem to solve, they can’t add that kind of protection in there.
The moment that functionality is added, people playing HC will just yank their network cable out as they die or are just about to die, cheesing it and trivializing the whole point of HC.
I just lost two characters in a row and this game is over for me, one because my client disconnected and the other because at home the Internet failed for a few seconds… each time I didn’t even see my death and I couldn’t intervene, sent to the character screen after a black screen… it’s so frustrating that I uninstalled the game. I feel like they reduced the amount of scroll that appears cause I saw one in all my hours of play in season 6, nothing to help. I’ve been playing since season 1 but I have no reason to continue, I would never have played 6 seasons of D4 in this state, the temper mechanic is really designed to break your nuts, the Master working is just a resource vacuum to simulate an “endgame”, there could be 2x more bosses or endgame modes just with the excellent suggestions I read here in the forum, and i could continue… No intention of coming back for season 7 since I can see that nothing is going to change soon. The visual and the atmosphere are successful thx to the visual artists but sadly the gaming experience is just disappointing wasted by too much crap
Scrolls are a huge problem in season 6 , they went a bit too aggressive on the nerf. They can leave things as is but at least give Hardcore its own titles for getting things done.
Veiled crystals even become scarce when you die on disconnects and have to redo gearing.
So if titles are going to stay the same as softcore then at least buff the scroll drop rate from current levels, halfway between current drop rate and previous drop rate would be fine imo.
