Disappointed with the Devs..for real this time!

I just read the whole patch notes.

  1. All items goes down to level 540. Smh. Re-farm again!

  2. Paragon boards are limited to 5. Smh.

  3. Character max level now is 60. Smh.

  4. Made changes to the nodes that’ll mess up current builds and setup. Smh.

  5. Seems like barb’s board got messed up (nerfed).

  6. Other changes are not as bad but kind of okay.

  7. Runes are good if you want to be very powerful but this same rune broke D2 and now they brought it to D4. I hope they are smart enough to fix this that won’t break the game.

I really feel like everytime a player manages to do something good about his/her character(s), the devs just find a way to ruin it. (I used to like barbs but after all these nerfs, I decided to change to something else so I can enjoy the gameplay).

I’m honestly at a point where I just want to try the expansion then call it a day. I won’t even try to make my characters strong. I’ll probably wait til s30 (just like in D3 when they decided to stop updating or making changes) before I start focusing on improving my characters coz truthfully, they will keep messing things up and I’m so done with it. Hundreds of hours wasted almost every season coz they have to make significant changes that sometimes it doesn’t even feel like a good direction to take.

Only Blizzard is doing this extreme change (as far as I know). Don’t get me wrong, Diablo is my fave (been here since D1 in 94 or 96 maybe) but this is just extreme. Almost every season there are significant changes that make your previous characters obsolete or not as good. I have a character that used to clear t120+…now it can barely clear t92. We’re going backwards with level, paragon board, item power, etc. It’s very wrong in all levels that the devs don’t care about the progress and sacrifices that people make. Everything has to be wasted almost every season. Seasonal characters are made like that but not Eternal…yet they did it anyway.

I am a seasonal player (90% of the time but I also like playing in eternal to enjoy different builds and game mechanics. I use eternal for enjoyment and testing. And this is why I am gutted that they keep doing this every 2 to 3 months. I have 11 characters and I tried hard this season to update all of them so they can all clear at least pit level 91 (my highest can clear t138). Farming ain’t easy especially if you are doing 11 characters and i am not even done yet as I have 2 more to go…but no, Blizzard has to do something to ruin all that work…like they always do.

It’s been fun Blizzard but until you figure things out in this franchise, I’m out. Game is supposed to be enjoyed yet you only gave me headaches almost every season. S2 and maybe S5 are the best. Thanks for keeping our hopes up for a bit (then taking it away after).

I got auto modded during twitch chat because I asked why sorcerers always get nerfed. It’s a wild time to be a diablo fan.

you are playing a live service game. things change.

only people i feel for are eternal players currently. they got hit quite a lot with big changes recently, and i agree, eternal should be somewhat a baseline, stable d4.

This is the problem when the entire power system is based on borrowed powers you place on gear. Eternal can never be baseline, because they keep balancing based on the new powers in the seasonal mechanics.

these powers arent borrowed. aspects stay, uniques stay etc.

borrowed powers are seasonal perks for example.

in my opinion, once they finally established what they want, or wanted d4 to be like, eternal should become a blueprint of the game. add a new items, etc etc. stay away from massive changes. thats the sole reason in my opinion why the eternal realm exists.

I’m not disagreeing, but that’s not how they balance it.

right now, they arent. im glad im not an eternal player. if i put myself into that position, id be annoyed as well, seeing how 3 seasons in a row id have to redo my characters that i basically wanted to freeze in time.

PoE was notorious for this, LE has also had some significant changes since launch, torchlight (depending on the game) also went through its fair share. There’s probably more.

Regardless though it doesn’t change how you personally feel nor does it invalidate your criticism of the game. The only thing I could suggest to you, and other players with a like mindset is to step away from the game and give it a few years. Yes I said years.

Save yourself some money, take a break from the franchise, wait for them to figure out where they want the game to go, and just go enjoy other games in the meantime.

This season, I focused mainly on updating all my eternal characters. Farmed for hundreds of hours already…and this is why I am so gutted with this campfire chat. I understand this in season coz it is supposed to be like that…but really not in eternal.

I agree with you, Iggi… I actually stepped away for a month or so and played Baldurs Gate 3, Skyrim and Dishonored 2 but this time, I’ll take your advice as I am considering that too. Judging by what they did with D3 (it took 30 seasons before they stopped nerfing, etc), I would prolly wait that long before I go back into doing this so I can actually enjoy the game again.

Really don’t like the direction all this is going so I think it’s best to end my D4 journey with Season 5. I’m sort of sick of the game constantly changing but never really growing. The more they add, the closer to a soulless mobile game it seems to get.

100% agree that most of the changes are horrible besides the 2 new uber uniques. Runes destroyed D2 and if runes are going to be the main form of currencty then we are all screwed if they stick to old methods where chance for JAH run is 1 in 380 million or something.

Hate the paragon nerf to 5 boards. barb is already nerfed in season 5 so noone will be playing it in season 6. Blizzard could consider replacing barb with the Paladin.

The only positive thing seems like when u hit lvl 50 u have all skill points and looks like u gain 300 paragon points when u hit lvl 60 so 10 levels enables u to max ur paragon board but meh, i am ok with the old school lvl 100 levelling. cus that allows u to get ur gg gear while maxing ur board. Now u have maximum skills and paragon thrown to u but ur gear still sucks??

you had all skill points when you hit level 50 since release.

this is the reason why devs continue doing it, anyway you gonna buy it… do you understand it?

ACCEPTANCE…

You don’t understand the game. The purpose is not to play an eternal char forever. It is about the seasons. You simply bought the wrong game.

stop man :exploding_head:

dont play the victim when you are fully capable of knowing what you want to purchase.

you are talking about acceptance and basically manipulation. at times i must wonder how some people can walk across advertisements without opening their wallet.

Sweetheart, I havent bought dlc, this is first. The second thing is when players complain about something but pay money anyway, this is the reason devs do whatever they want

cupcake. devs dont do whatever they want. they do what their bosses tell them to do.

also, i doubt you didnt buy the dlc. i mean, you were saying you play eternal only. suddenly you became a seasonal player but hey, who am i to judge ;*

You need to refresh your memory honey.

I was saying seasonal resets must gone, seasons must be integrated into eternal

Devs and their bosses are the same devs for us(players)

If you doubt it, its your own problems))
