Hydra was strong but far far away from overpowered.
10-15% would have been fine. But not 60%.

Disappointing.
Considering the amount of things changed, the majority are likely based more on the closed beta rather than the recent beta. We had an outdated build for beta and it has simply been brought up to current balance now that the game is done. We couldn’t even get uniques and they had some balance changes.
Does Hydra sorc even have any uniques that make it better endgame?
I didn’t see any.
It was bound to fall off by endgame anyways.
Now people can’t even use it to level?
Seems like a bit much. Every good sorc build was nerf clobbered… what exactly is left to play on sorc?
your math is incorrect its actually a 150% reduction compared to before.
But thats not that terrible compared, since this affects mostly early game. With Paragon i think it will be still okayish.
For me the worst nerf is the reduction in shield duration from the passive from 5 to 2 secs. Dunno if that was needed after tampering with the other cd reduce stuff.
Original Poster: Please provide a source for this class change? It certainly wasn’t in the recent developer live stream yesterday. Class balancing wasn’t even mentioned.
Looks unsettling at best. If true, I blame live streamers and the players providing “feedback” on how classes were OP, sorry I mean BROKEN or whatever 2023 made-up word people use these days when they feel a class is too good for the game. Maybe they want the game “overtuned” so people can find the “meta” for how to play… just saying…
Blizzard should not listen to the community when it’s about balancing issues to be honest… balancing should be 100% inspired by what Blizzard thinks and not some random players with not much knowledge about Diablo (4).
It’s pretty dumb. They just took every build that people started enjoying during the beta and eliminated them. Literally every one. Yes, some things could have used some tuning. But they didn’t just tune. They eliminated the builds completely.
That’s how balance works.
They look at data only they have, and listen to players, but they don’t, ever balance based on what players say with no data backing it up.
It’s just that people like to be dramatic and scream ‘This is player’s faults!’ because their only data point to look at is the forums.
No matter why they nerfed I guess…
Their goal should be to make every build viable (in endgame)
Maybe hydra sorc or hydra/chainlightning mix is viable, we don’t really know… we will find out… my last hope is that before season 1 things will be adjusted to be playable. Not only for the hydra sorc.
My honest opinion is that they are doing all these nerfs just so they can do buffs at launch. It will provide more hype. Also, they seem to have some kind of sadistic thing going on in having us struggle during the server slam.
They’re not even locking low levels out of the world boss area. So most people won’t get their talon not because of being unable to kill the boss, but because half of their team slots are taken up by low levels trying to leach legendaries.
They want us to fail this server slam for whatever reason. Perhaps they think that will get more people playing it so they can stress test.
Balancing games according to forums and social media is what made me hate games like WoW and LoL.
A lot of people whining for balance changes don’t even try to hide the fact that they’re completely biased and only have their self interests in mind, not the overall health of the game.
