So in the patch notes that just released today, there is a blurb in there about Minions. Specifically this:
Minions will now always engage targets with a cast Curse
What is a cast Curse? Are those your basic abilities like Decompose? or is it something else?
its the curses , decrepify / thorns
im guessing it doubles as kill this command for our minions

Got ya, yeah looking at it on D4builds now, and it says right there what’s a curse, I should probably learn to read lol.
Thanks!
im hoping this is what it means as a way to control minions will go a long way to helping out in the higher dungeons
They will still eat aoe like always and die before the heal goes off. So this doesn’t exactly change anything.

i dont know how u play but my minions rarely die ,nm 35 , not high but im pushing up all the time and its me that dies usually not my golem or minions ,
Still working on mine, but even with gearing for minion health, using the aspects that buff them and going for paragons points, they still die to poison, fire and lightening aoe. Mostly because they just stand there and eat it.
Not even close. All this means is that minions will now aggroe those targets just like every other attack spell necros have. It’s not going to do anything different than those spells already do so it’s not offering any control at all. Previously curse spells didnt engage them in combat which was the bug.
waiting to get in game in q , will try it out but if it is indeed a target this secondary to using the curse skill then of course it will make a difference being able to make ALL the minions all attack same target …
That’s not what it will do at all… If they are in combat with one side of the map, casting curse on another group of mobs isn’t going to magically make them change directions. All this is doing is telling your pets “I’m in combat now”… I guess you don’t actually play the game but everyone who uses minions and curses knows curses don’t start combat for them. All this is doing is making them start a fight just the same as if u cast bone spear on a group of mobs.

Yes because currently casting curses on mobs doesn’t start combat… This has nothing to do with focus targeting. All it means is curses will START combat. Not re-engage a different target, not focus a certain area, it simply means start combat.
deceiving wording from blizz , i know casting curse didnt make them engage , noone who plays necro asked for this , we wanted a way to direct our minions ,
the wording could be taken as curse cast could make minions always engage target , it doesnt it just puts them in combat , great addition blizz /S
Well that’s another massive disappointment. Here I was thinking I might actually be able to prioritize targets.
Between this, and the Blighted Corpse Explosion not being fixed, I am not sure how to feel about this patch.
me too , im debating shelfing my necro for the moment ,

what logic would there be in a focus target being grouped with a massive aoe circle? I think you have no idea what focus actually means. If I want to focus a target it will be the 1 singular target, not the 30 mobs I just tagged with a curse.
myself and many other , thought the curse would work as a focus target command as well as curse . i.e u click directly on the mob and use curse button , your minions focus the target
normal curse use ie on ground near or around group = curses as normal
not hard to grasp what the wording could have meant.
irrelevant conversation now as all it does it put the minions into combat , nothing more

I was hoping it act like golem active to direct them to go to a specific area and attack mobs in the area. The minion at current state are attacking all over the place and you cannot tell them where to attack.
Oh, nice! I didn’t see anything in patch notes about it, so assumed they didn’t touch it. Thanks for the heads up!
