Difficulty levels

I’m not a big fan of Torment levels since D3, but i’m not here to complain why it is bad etc.
We just got Torment 1-4 and based on the graphic (difficulty levels are not centered, empty space on the right side) it seems we’re get another 4 levels in the future. Fine. Can we just get different rewards on each? More gold and experience is not a thing. We need a reason to do the same content on higher level f.e. Mythics should drop on highest difficulty only, or only there we could get Skins/mtx or even Platinum.

i’ll explain something for you.

back in vanilla warcraft, say 2004, if you were a fire mage and casted 3 fireballs on some monster, you probably killed it.

now move to 2024, 20 years later, you’re still a fire mage, but you are level 80 or whatever it is, and you got level 9000 gear, but for some strange reason, the people playing the game think they are stronger… yet the “new” monster, which is just a reskinned old monster you killed in 2004, maybe it has 6 legs instead of 2, and its purple now

still needs 3 fire balls to kill.

what changed? the atmosphere? the scenery?

welcome to torments and endless progression (also multiverse and metaverse)

its just a reskin of the original work.

the whole level crap is just that crap … might be good fertilizer but still stinks…

last 2 seasons I played on what is hard mode now till the first cap dungeon as the 10 skill points made the characters a little to strong for the lowest setting…

NOW I can’t do much on hard setting as extra life and bigger damage make playing not fun ,

So I have been told what i am supposed to do is level up on normal level through the grind then at 60th got to Penitent or torment level to gear up finally with decent gear,

then of course you use T1 then T2 and so on … so grind till your head explodes and you get the natural lobotomy whoever is responsible for this set up got,

you have 2 to 3 levels that are only there to day “yes we have intermediate levels” but of course they are unplayable or at least unenjoyable for the levels and gear they were intended originally so they get ignored …

If there is any real money laid out over this thought process they should pay the money back and double it since all they did was put a big red button on the counter that was attached to nothing and did nothing

Wait wait… I think there is better rates for highter diff, right? Not just exp and gold…

Anyone can confirm?

It is, but drop rate is already too high, we are getting everything on the plate in few hours so what exactly it changes anyway? You get everything even faster…

Well most player at least here saying rates are pretty low, but that is not point. Highter diff = better rewards. Has to be like this.

Of course it is reskin, like in every game. There was a (short) time in D3 where you were playing on lower Torment for higher efficiency, because of the same loot/content. Than ofc T16 became a joke, so it was natural to farm on highest Torment. On the other side in D2 best quality items you can get only on Hell (uber Tristram/Diablo Clone). So you have a reason to walk through Normal and Nightmare, tbh Hell is a place where the game starts. I would like to see something similar on T4 - getting to T4 won’t take long even for casual players so saying that everything should be accesable everywhere for everyone is not an argument.

right, but if you did not have endless progression, the new generation of gamers would stop playing this PvE game. the game is just a waste of time, hence endless progression, while you waste time, you play dress up.

same thing with wow… fashion is the endgame, its not just a meme.

all online pve games are about vanity, the goal is to turn the gamer into a model, giving endless money in return for a wardrobe. while pvp games, you could say the end goal is for the player to become professional esports athlete, and find a way to make money rather than spend.

receiver vs producer.

i don’t think there’s anything you, me or blizzard can do about it. thats what rpg games are now, vanity.

If the drop rates were lower I don’t think many players would hang around. I don’t think what we grind is actually fun enough to spend hours grinding.

I have 30h play time. I can comfortably farm T2. I’ll see what I can do about t3. If I fail it will mostly likely be my resistance levels. I’m already bored of farming pits, hordes or dungeons. I’ll change my build when I can to see if it will bring any flavour.

i seriously can’t play this game unless i have netflix or any other type of video in a corner while i’m full screened. does that mean i have adhd? or is this game mad boring?

The reason is most definitely not pseudo progression baked in “difficulty” tiers. The solution to this is just plain more content and new progression systems.

the game is based on killing monsters called demons which is greek for lesser beings. now, how do you add more content to this tunnel vision based task?

thats literally the entire point of the game, im not shilling for blizzard or any other “arpg” = aka dungeon crawler company but, how can you expand on this?

its the same with mmorpgs… you go from world map, to dungeons, to raids, its still the same killing monsters game, its just different modes, what does that accomplish? pure waste of time, for what? transmog/cosmetics/vanity?

so, instead of killing monsters, you what? decorate a house? add baseball and chess?

i dunno, i think its a genre issue

All said is true, Diablo has always been game whit endless grinding/killing amd that’s fine, it should stay like that but giving same content on different difficulty level is just strechting game time for few hours and we’ll be getting more and more Torments in future because of it. It is not a salution.

that’s why platformers are better than dungeon crawlers, because platformers are based on completing puzzles rather than killing hordes of insects with zero challenge.

games like mario maker 2 and fall guys have “user generated levels/maps”, yet the game never changes, its the same, but each new map brings a boost in dopamine because its different each time.

now if diablo 4 did this with dungeons, random generated dungeons, it doesn’t solve anything either, there’s nothing new to solve, its still wasting time killing inferior insects. there’s zero challenge and mental stimulation.

platformers > dungeon crawlers

That’s how mmo’s always work.

I’ve done many many years in mmo’s. After you do 2 gear resets, you never do this again in your life. Its pointless. And its normal to conclude this. The blasters are tricking you.

So what i’ve been every since in any game is instead grind for cosmetics…

The battle pass after a few stumbles is probably the only thing holding the live service up at this point.

The difficulty system here is not meant to work like D3. Torment 4 is not meant to be efficient for anyone, it’s there as a challenge mode, most people wont ever play on it just like most people aren’t going to level on penitent. Everything is available in torment 1 because that’s basically the base endgame difficulty and what they expect a lot of people to stick with most of the time.

The devs have acknowledged multiple mistakes in D3, the endless powercreep was one of those mistakes. This update literally just crunched player power down. they have shown they are not adverse to that, I wouldn’t expect endless difficulty bloat again. If T4 is “too easy” they might just make it harder.

That would beat the purpose of difficulty levels

Difficulty levels is so you pick the difficulty level where you have more FUN. You pick whatever difficulty level you pick to increase your enjoyment

If you need to get bribed to pick a difficulty level, then you didnt want it in the first place

This is how games do this (for example, you get no extra rewards in Space Marines for example for playing it in different difficulty levels)

The problem is that you get everything too fast, both endgame items and higher difficulty levels so the fun of getting on higher torment dissappears.

Boss drop extra gear in higher Torment. You will get higher chance for mythic by farm higher. There is a reason why so many SB players in T4, they are not dumb

They explicitly said they want everything to drop in all torment levels just at varying degrees. More rewards for higher torment tiers.

Doubt they will change this.
