Can I change the difficulty level like in D2? I’m thinking about entering magic words into the console and then selecting the difficulty level from 1 to 10. I’ve played 600 hours and the game is slowly starting to bore me. the difficulty level is too low in this game. you reach a powerful figure too quickly.
I feel the opposite way towards difficulty. I compare the difficulty spikes in the Diablo 3 power creep versus the Variable 4 jerky push into torment.
In Diablo 3, the game feels too easy initially as you get stronger, the option tomincfpreasr the difficulty in adventure mode is always present and swap able in any town, you get too strong, but as you push for a higher difficulty, monsters are stronger but the player doesn’t feel too weak as the higher difficulty should yield stronger, rarer loot until that difficulty gets trivial and you advance into a higher difficulty. Torment 10 in D3 feels like Torment 3 in D4, without being properly geared to do much.
Diablo 4 made the mistake of putting gear and content behind a Torment difficulty gate to the point I always felt too weak no matter what class I’m playing outside of a few specific builds, the difficulty spike feels too steep and abrupt to the point where the power fantasy feels more like a job than a game.
I get this vibe that Diablo is making a horrible attempt at trying to be like an unfair Souls-like all of a sudden.
I think the Dev team needs to each take a month playing Diablo 3 to max level and diablo 4 to max level in order to make a sequel to Diablo 3 that evolves the elements that worked in D3 and expands on them in this game thats supposed to be a sequel to Diablo 3, but feels like an attempt at Diablo 2.5 instead.
Well, thats my take, I adored Diablo 3 but couldn’t get all that much into Diablo 2 which puts me in the minority unfortunately.
Just saying the power creep in season 2 was more fun to play through as the vampire powers made the player feel powerful, thus making the seasons gameplay feel unique and interesting.
They need to stop being so hyper focused on end game and enhance the journey so get to end game, making seasonal play more alt fryendly
