I think it was that you have to log in a character that has done the class quest previously to unlock it for any new characters created after doing so.
You still get the class quest, but you should get the class specialization/mechanic, without having to do that class quest. For me, on my barbarian, the class specialization was unlocked right away and I didn’t have to do the quest. It’s worth noting that I did play all classes last season, so perhaps the more recent completion of the class quests made it work for me.
It was obvious to me that you had to log in on your old character first, so that’s what I did. Then I created my new toon, and it gave me the full specialization on my druid + every unlock as soon as I hit lvl 15.
I suggest you log on every character of every class you have on the Eternal realm.
Yeah the problem, I think, is you have to log onto a toon BEFORE making the new one, which i forgot to do. Luckily it was just sorcerer which is one of the shortest. I’m usually stuck going the druid one which is the most annoying IMO. Have to do a Stronghold, then a quest, THEN collect 400 spirit offerings which takes longer than it should… bleh.
The TL;DR of it is this: Log into at least one character from each class you’ve completed class quests on on the Eternal realm before creating any seasonal characters. This sets the flag so you don’t have to do the class quest during the season if you don’t want to. But there is now an actual reward tied to doing it, so you may actually want to do it, at least on your first character of the season.
yeah as others have said you have to log in on a char that has done it. also even if you have it unlocked you can optionally still do it for a semi decent reward cache
Also works if you do it after creation as well. I can attest to this first hand as I saw my wife do this when she hit level 15 on her Seasonal Sorc. Upon hitting 15 she said, “I thought you said we didn’t have to do our class quests anymore.” Sure enough she couldn’t use her first enchantment slot. She then logged off of that character, logged into her Eternal Sorc, then logged back in on the Seasonal Sorc and it was fixed. She had not logged onto the Eternal Realm prior to this at all.
Now she could’ve been bugged, but hopefully this helps other people.
If I had to guess, something to do with the structure of the Database/How characters are saved in the first place, and most likely a remnant of something that was never meant to be. They have had to do this a lot with this game, logging onto one character to update the others. Just makes me wonder how the information is stored that they can’t do a quick scan of all characters on the account without logging into the specific character.
The system appears a bit wonky right now. I created a Druid. When I hit level 15, I could access the spirit board and select a single power for each animal, but couldn’t specialize. I had to do the quest to unlock that.
But others have reported they had full access immediately at 15. Others are saying they had to do everything. Logging into an eternal character that’s done the quest already might be a good idea.
I didn’t get anything with my sorceress when she completed the quest to unlock enchantments so that’s not working. Or is it only enabled if I play another sorcerer and do the quest? It’s just a silly mechanic because they can’t get over thinking their lame class skill unlocks are the coolest things since the intertoobs.
