Did you forget to add Forgotten Souls in s3?

hell tides required to get. i saw that helltides are all the time now, so yay ! no more unable to reroll when i go for broke.

only i feel like they arent even dropping ???

  1. rares dont drop them
  2. screaming hellvains are super super rare nowadays compared to S1
  3. hellbringer elites dont spawn often or at all and only drop 1-2 souls…
  4. salvaging legendary FROM helltide still isnt a 100 % chance to get soul, its more like 1 out of 5 you get a soul
  5. none of the perks for ashes help get souls
  6. none of the event bonus boxes give souls
  7. cant trade cinders for them either.
  8. only a few in the Box of Mystery’s none of the other boxes give ANY

please up the rate on some of these or add them back in ( salvaging legendarys is 100 % a forgotten soul in D3…)
OR
reduce rerolling rares to NOT COST SOULS only when lengendary to reroll ( this might be more reasonable then reworking drop rates )
OR
Cinders/Elemental cores/Gems/salvage materials, make a alch recipe to convert ??

I get them all the time, i actually have an overabundance of them. Not doubting your struggle, just saying i havent experienced this draught at all.

what method are you useing to get them ??

i reroll alot so i use them as soon as i get them…

if your the type of player who just replaces gear as it drops and never rerolls till 925 end game yeah you might have a stockpile…

but i have gathered the 6666 cinders almost and only have gotten about 120 ish… and have zero in my inventory atm

Not doubting you, but in my personal experience so far in Helltides this season, I have come across maybe 3 Screaming Hell Veins so far. I’m level 80. I have plenty of experience in farming Helltides, so I know where to look for Forgotten Souls. They’re just nowhere to be found. I’ve even spent the last 2 or 3 Helltides without the idea of maximizing Cinders in mind, only to end up with no luck finding Forgotten Souls except for a few handfuls due to the few chests that I did open.

I, too, would like to know what you possibly might be doing differently than I am doing, because not having more than 10-20 every time I want to re-roll a piece of gear is past the point of getting old.

Salvaging legendaries should be guaranteed forgotten souls. At least 1-3 per item salvaged. Give like 5-10 for salvaging a unique.

I’m also struggling with forgotten souls. doing 45 minutes of a helltide for 10-20 of them only enchants a piece of gear maybe 5-10 times. I’ve found no other source of them. I also really hate helltides so I’m forced to do content that i don’t want to do.

agreed, helltides content in a season is ok to a point, but i want to focus on seasonal content not original content

maybe if they go like POE and make the “ADDITIVE” in content so we can do more then just classic game + current season TO classic game + season 1 + season 2 + season 3 Content… so the game gets bigger and bigger. yeah some things will be need to be nerfed down to avoid a overall power flux that breaks the game, but seams like a HUGE waste of money to spend on programmers to make content, only let it run for 3 months then delete it forever ??? how is that smart in the long run ??? or is that why these seasons are so shallow ??

but back to original post. yeah can they ATLEAST add mini map icons when we are near a HELLVAIN ??? cause that seams like the case i only find “ore” not hellvains… or make the rares at least drop 1 on kill

I do wish forgotten souls were a little more attainable. I get a vast majority from helltide chests. After a run of 1200 cinders give or take, I leave with about 50 forgotten souls. I can usually blow through that on one item if I am unlucky.

seams the only chest that gives them are the Mystery chest in my experience… what chests do you open and get them in most ??? cause i would like to know

Living steel chests are the ones I’ve seen that give the best. Don’t quote me on that though because they are basically the only ones I go for besides maybe mystery chests. I tried to farm for them once in only the smaller chests and barely got anything.

tho big no lifer buff, who can run helltides all day long and don’t give a sh it about the huge cut they made in mats drop due to double uptime.

I have blown hour after worthless hour farming hell tides this season and have nothing to show for it. They need to stop withholding forgotten souls in an effort to prop up this boring worthless content.

They have literally been forgotten.

All re-roll problems solved, Can’t re-roll anyways.

Sounds like you had some bad RNG. I haven’t had a hard time getting them. But I would agree that the places in which you can get them needs to be boosted considerably. I usually have your exact same issue ever since Season 1. So it really should be looked into even if most people usually can scrounge up enough

At WT3 they feel pretty scarce. Hoping it gets better in WT4. Have been getting 20-25 per hour. Last season in WT4 I was getting 60-70+. It’s far too easy to blow through 20-30 rerolling a single item. I have bricked 4 pairs of boots so far trying to roll movement speed. It’s like the perfect storm of awful itemization, excessive material grinding and just plain bad luck.

Welcome to “Forgotten soul farming simulator”, tbh i have been enjoying the vaults this season but i spent most of my time in helltides trying to get FS.

best of luck, wt4 i spend 35-40 min farming in a helltide … got 27 forgotten souls. Which lasted .5 minutes of rerolls, and I didn’t get squat.

Something must have broken after last patch or beyond all reason there was a ninja nerf(remember tweaking the Cinders way back…yea).

Anyway I just posted in bug reports.
I ran the Seasonal “Open 10 Chests in a Single Helltide” because I’d neglected to bother with it. This was earlier tonight(2100-2155 EST).
As I said in the report:

I had just upgraded and messed with gear.
I was at 1 Forgotten Soul.
I ended with 28 Forgotten Souls.
I gained 27 Forgotten Souls from the list of activities below:

10 Chests: 1 Heavy Weapons. 2 Amulet. 2 Rings. 5 Armor.
(p.s. FYI: 75% of my drops were also SACRED…as a level 100 this is not cool)
4 Veins (these seem to have become fairly scarce btw - I LOOKED and have noticed a decline in number after last patch)
6 Elites (4 Firestorms and 2 Random Helltide Elites)
2 Invasion Events(Hell Portals) and 2 Helltide Commanders
6 Random Events
Multiple Fiend Roses(didn’t keep track)
2 Treasure Goblins

Something broke. All there is to it.

I can give you a way to get about 200+ souls for each helltide.
It’s tedious and a little time consuming to set up, but once you get it going, you farm one or 2 helltides and you’re set for a very long time.

1 - Create a bunch of alts (4 is ok), ant put them to T4. You don’t have to level them up or gear them up. It would be “better” but not strictly necessary
2 - When a hell tide pops up, screen shot the area of the map you are in a second monitor and leave it open on MS paint
3 - Go about doing a helltide. Farm cinders normally with the objective to open 2 steel chests, because they give you a lot of Forgotten souls. 2 chests is the max you’re going to open unless you have your main + 1 viable alt that can kill and survive.
4 - In the meanwhile, take notice of any souls vein that you can find. Mark a small dot in your ms paint map.
5 - When you locate around 5 veins, it’s time to go to your alts. Don’t worry about cinders anymore at this point. Your alts can die when going for the veins, we don’t care about cinders anymore.
6 - For each alt, trace a semi optimized route between all the veins marked, and you’re going to notice that some will vanish, but some others will appear elsewhere. Take notice of that and update your map accordingly.

Like I said, it’s quite the setup, but last season, I had 2 “viable” characters, and 3 alts just for that.
I could get from 150 to 230 souls, depending on how lucky I was with the veins.
The mechanic can also be simplified for less alts, I’m guessing you can still get around 100 per helltide easily.
