I think it’s also build dependent. ie: Cata druids/quake+ww barbs have crazy map coverage compared to some other builds. I don’t think the difference can be much if the good boons are still more than capable of pushing 1500+ aether

Agreed, but I am running ww teleport quake barb. Clears the whole screen. Still feels slightly less than last season but it’s impossible to be sure without having played that build last season
I mean last season was so full of SBs jumping around screen clearing that it’s hard to compare lmao

Something was changed. Hordes give less now. Somebody find the patch notes they ninjaed it.
Try to verify if Aether drops are working properly.
Those are not random, except the Hellfire Rain, after all.
I have found that I get about 600 a run now too. I mainly feel like I just rarely get the hellbourne option. Either not at all, too late, or only once or twice.
I only use the 10 wave IHs. I used to run them for obducite, but honestly, it has been easier and faster to run T4 NMDs.

Same here. Did 20 runs (always 10 waves) and it‘s hard to reach 700. Before this patch i was always around 900. I have no idea why…it looks and plays the same.
Before the patch I completed the destroyer challenge of getting more than 750 aether in a single run. I did this on a lightning spear Sorceress and I had a lot of good luck with the choices that were offered which helped a lot.
The next day after the patch I did really poorly, I think I only got 300 or so. But the choices I was offered were also really bad and I had spires.
I just chalked it up to luck but maybe something did change or get broken.
The aether rate is lower. The screen-clear builds don’t notice as much. If you aren’t constantly wiping the screen, 700+ aether requires perfect boons in perfect order.
I’ve been playing IH with non-meta builds since S5 and i’m having to work a LOT harder to hit higher aether numbers this season.
On the other hand, 600ish aether got me around 3k obducite. I think they increased the material chest from last season.
If you’re having trouble getting 750+ and you don’t want to change your build to something boring and overpowered, just do a run with a couple friendly people from the forums. You’ll get it done easy.
yep, NMD’s are so fast and easy to clear (especialy with the events wich give even more obducite) yesterday i rerolled half my gear with the obducite i had amassed haha
the only reason i’m doing IH’s is for the achievement. it’s just not that much fun due to how random it is (hate having this little controll over what i’m doing)
If you are still handing out some compasses i could use a few.
I put my normal druid on the backburner and am trying a quill build for part of the season and could use some compasses.

I just ran a 10 on my cata druid (I literally one shot everything… big surprise there!) and ended up with 681 before the council. I had 3 in to hell born and one in to +1 extra hell born when spawned, mass on start, masses spawn lords, lords are now summoned, and a few others that were trash. The hell born do not show up like they did last season. It’s like they were reverted to the patch when everyone was complaining that they don’t show enough. Something is definitely off.
Edit: I just ran an 8. Before the council I was at 778 (if i recall) and after 793. This time I still had maxed infernal hordes but also was lucky with 2 monster spawn (the 50% faster one).
Something 100% was changed on hordes. Its much harder to get synergy or something.
oh just a head up! i got the damn thing
finished in round 8 or 9 (at that point almost every wave spawned 5 hellborn)
i had to change my build though
removed my frostburn for gloves of the iluminator (overall damage stayed pretty much the same. GotI just does it faster as with FB i needed to stack damage on frozen elites)
found a tyraels’ while trying to upgrade my glyphs so i swapped my armor for that and then changed my boots from yen’s blessing (this was for more summons and more frostnova’s → overkill with FB’s though haha) too a 3GA pair i found roughly the same time and that’s an other aspect i can use.
swapped out my 4GA mother’s blessing i was using for my mana uptime back to tal rasha’s (1 ohm rune away from getting the ring of starless skies wich i’m not sure i’ll be swapping for either tal rasha’s or my legendary ring with 2GA’s)
and to top it off switched a few passives around (nothing major but some where no longer needed) and swapped familiar to lightning spear (might swap this one back again seeing familiar has higher lucky hit chance but requires to spam the button every 2 seconds haha)
so i’m finaly done with infernal hordes! and i got the damn raven

btw, didnt even know that people still use frostburn gloves o.o ^^
