Did the Lead Class designer just admit he's learning that flat damage abilities that don't scale...suck?

Tuned in partway through but…did the man really just admit this?

How on earth are we supposed to have any confidence in the future of class design and balance if the literal dude in charge of it doesn’t understand literal basic elements of design like this?

lol. Sad but not at all surprising. I already uninstalled to make room for Baldur’s Gate 3. Hopefully D4 will be worth another spin in a few years.

You’re literally reaching for anything to whine about. Grow up manchild.

I am? I mean…it’s a simple concept, yeah? Anything with flat, unscaling damage will…not scale well into endgame and will consequently fairly quickly become pretty useless unless that flat damage is exclusively used to apply another effect.

I’m mostly just shocked at some of the fundament, core design elements for an ARPG that seem to be brand-new learnings on this livestream. Like that their goal of designing varied builds that build around lucky hit or overpower absolutely failed because they designed vulnerable to be ludicrously overpowered in comparison.

This campfire has established my opinion on these devs and that they have never played their game past the campaign.

And these buffs are exactly that, for the casuals that have issues getting to lv50. No serious Sorc / Barbarian player ever complained about Fury / Mana generation at end-game. It was an early game issue that you quickly get out of. Nothing will change at the top end. GG

Honestly…it really makes me wonder if any of the leads are actual ARPG fans and play the genre seriously/for fun outside of D2R or D3.

This livestream has some good buffs improvements being discussed so far, but the way they’re speaking about the game and genre remains wrong and I’ve actually got even less confidence in the future of class design/balance for this game based off the early part of the stream.

correction: they have never played ARPGs, period.

He said it did scale… just not to the levels it should at end game
