Personally I think I’ve played more on s8 then s7 even if the build I used is a bit more weaker

This is the only season I didn’t complete because I absolutely hated it as a casual player. There’s entire objectives I just couldn’t complete because I don’t use guides or play the meta. Kind of just feels bad to play now with nothing but forced invulnerability, one shots all the time, and for what? Reduced payout? Not everything needs to be Dark Souls difficulty, since those already exist.

You can conclude absolutely nothing from looking at Steam numbers for Blizzard games.

I pointed this out in another thread somewhere, but there are a few things I find interesting:

  1. The peak player counts on weekend appear to be pretty similar. This suggests the number of players who played S9 was similar to the number that played S8.

  2. The area (integral) under the graph between 2 times would tell us the ‘total hours played’. This appears to be significantly larger for S8 than S7.

  3. Given both 1 and 2, and from a qualitative assessment of the shape of the graph, it appears the same number of players spent more time playing S8 than in S7. But not in the way we might expect which is by playing for longer into the season. Instead it appears players played more through the week, compared to S7 where the weekend peaks were similar but player count dropped off more during the week.

I don’t think we can draw anything conclusive from these observations, and there are other explanations. But I do find it interesting.

It’s enough for me to think Blizzard’s approach to S8 probably did result in players spending more time in the game, most likely by playing more during the week. But it didn’t appear to lengthen the season at all.

But but but S8 is a flop, every season is doomed before it even starts! I invested 70 bucks! How about a refund after 8 seasons?! If the devs won’t listen to me, the game is doomed fosho! Make D4 into D3 because I love D3. Screw the others, my opinion matters the most!
