Did anyone else quit Season 8 because it was too grindy--including Battle Pass and Season Journey?

Hail all. Just curious. Season 8 got really grindy for me between torment 2-3 and 3-4. Progression wasn’t really fun at that point and the battle pass and season journey were taking too long. I was a month in. Disappointed I couldn’t finish, but I couldn’t justify putting hours in when it wasn’t fun. Anyone else feel the same?

I sort of share the same sentiment. I managed to complete it out of obligation, but can’t see myself doing the same in S9.

I have 2 main reasons for it. The first being that barb only having 2 strong builds, pet quake and mighty throw…and that’s it… pet quake isn’t even meet the barb fantasy and mighty throw I just find so “meh”

The second reason being that T4 bossing having unskippable mechanics in such a cheap and unsatisfying way. I am one of those crazy people who could do bossing all season and not get bored, but these boss changes man, they ripped away that masochist enjoyment I used to have

I haven’t even started it. The moment I saw the roadmap I knew that I am going to skip all the rest of the seasons, until the end of this year.

Yeah I’ve gone off D4 cause I dont wanna run pits a million times or the undercity. Its bizarre to go from a god in torment 2-3, and a slug in torment 4. I call bs. Lol

I haven’t quit, but almost there. I’m PL 269 and keep creating new toons, because I’m hitting a hard ceiling with all of them…quite frustrating. Looking more like Last Epoch is going to be more my speed.

S8 still makes D4 the least grindy arpg on the market. I still have friends playing it where season 7 everyone on my flist moved on withon the first 2-3 weeks of the season start (half finished the first week).

That it for what you will. Play till you feel done and move to next game.

I quit because I’m not going to spend the additional hours to meet what they say in season journey at T4.

This is the only season I’ve quit playing early. I have no interest in getting one shot every single boss and then grinding to maybe glimpse a Mythic that isn’t even for my build.

Just to clarify, wouldn’t the pre-S8 insta melt boss kills be sadistic enjoyment?

I quit because I realized I was just playing a slower S7. And there’s other, better games out there like Expedition 33.

The grindiest thing I did to 100% the journey this season was build a Death Trap rogue to complete the “Kill Andariel using Andariel’s Flaming Skull” and “Kill Lilith using Belial’s Eye Beams” parts of the final chapter. It wasn’t that hard to build it because I used whisper caches so I had gear, tempers and glyphs ready when I hit 60 and started hitting the pit. I did everything else with a minion Necro. It wasn’t very grindy at all.

No, after some time it was simply too repetitive and boring for me.

Finished the whole season, had several mythics, a ton of runes (including legendaries) and my 2 chars had real good gear at the end.
Played maybe 2-3 hours a day for maybe 3 weeks. At the wekend more. SSF with rune trading 1:1.

Grindiest was the 750k fragmet episode.

I also stopped early as no runes, no ubers and frankly no loot after a few 1 GA. I didnt mind the slower leveling but I was so tired of the pit I didnt care to do alt. Also the new boss design made it even more boring to farm them and then they drop nothing good. But I did enjoy it. just not anywhere near as the other seasons.

Nope, still playing, every day…at least for a few hours (depending on if I have work or not).

Paragon 261 currently… not sure how much more I have in me.
Might take a break till season 9.

I quit after 10 min of playing…my record.

I didn’t quit. I’m near done. I just need to do the last 2 missions for Iris and that’s it. Stopped playing because I know I can finish near end of the season.

I don’t mind if games are a bit grindy.
But I like it when time and effort are reflected in the rewards.

In S7, they were well aligned.
In S8, not so much anymore.

And I hate doing NMDs and running into multiple dead-end hallways, having to backtrack.
Not only that, I hate having to do NMDs just to get Obducite.

You should be able to get everything by doing any activity — the one you enjoy.

Quit a while ago and went back to Eternal to theory craft for next season. I hit a wall where I couldn’t get an Ancestral unique to drop I needed for the build. After a few hundred boss running and a few dozen big Belial tuned to the appropriate loot pool, I called it a season.

That was the last thing I got done on the journey. I finished part 7 before 6 due to collecting fragments for amulets. And requiring them for glyphs and requiring them for, you know, actual gems.
