Diablo IV won't start - hangs in Blizzard splash screen

I have been unable to start Diablo IV on my desktop since Patch 1.3.1 Build #49495. The game will start on my laptop, not on my desktop. I tried the following fixes on my desktop:

  • Repair D4
  • Upgrade video drivers
  • Uninstall and reinstall D4
  • Reinstall Windows 11 on my desktop

Nothing worked! Then when browsing around on the Battle.net launcher “Game Settings” (click the Gear symbol next to the Play button), I noticed a “Beta” option. I decided to try it and switched to the Beta launcher.

The Diablo IV hang on startup issue is fixed on my Aurora R10 desktop. Diablo IV will now start with Version: 2.27.0 of the Beta Battle.net Launcher. If you are having an issue with starting the game, give the Beta launcher a try.

My system(s) stats:

Nvidia RTX 3080

2TB SSD

Bro… I solve the problem.

Open the D4 game dir, and rename these 2 files as .bak. “dstorage.dll and dstoragecore.dll”
It solve the problem to me.

Brother, when I tried your method, it had some effect. Although the problem was not solved, the disconnection time was delayed. Can you please help me again? QAQ

The only thing that has ever worked for me so far (I play on Windows 11) is to have the bnet app scan the game files for any mistakes and reinstall any it finds (scan and repair). The process takes 20 or so minutes and it still doesn’t prevent crashing sometimes. >.< It works up until the installation of another patch. For some weird reason, the game breaks like this with every patch. Hope this helps some others having this annoying issue. Please Blizzard, this problem is seriously embarrassing. Please just do better.
