Diablo IV took 6 years to make... What were they doing that whole time?

If anything has become clear from D4, it’s that time spent on development of a game does not always equal quality.

This game should have been polished beyond belief after 6 years. This game should have had a fulfilling and engaging season 1 loaded up and ready to go.

I can only guess they spent at least 4 of those years working on the monetization and how to convince gullible players to fork over their money for BS, and rushed to develop something resembling the game we got around those monetization practices.

Cube crawls, stealing people’s food from the fridge, fooling shareholders, making non-committal deadlines and missing them.

Accurate! It’s baffling how there are still people defending this game like it’s the best thing ever made, and it’s just embarrassing to see people so actively working to lower the bar.

Supposedly every month they had to train new people as the previous ones were being fired for harassment.

Hot take but maybe the cubicle crawlers were the ones with talent that got fired?

Idk even if they had talent I doubt they could put it to much use after boozing til they were lying knock out cold in someone’s cubicle

I doubt this game was in development nearly that whole time or even 10 years. I think they were going to make D:I only and then threw together D4 after the backlash on that. That or they kept scrapping D4 and starting over and had to get something/anything out the door.

Copy/pasting all the :poop: classes, :poop: skills and :poop: affixes from D2.

I’d take boozers passing out that know how to make amazing games over what we have now

One of the dev’s allegedly went around spraying people with a water gun

Given how much effort and thought have been put into the systems at play in the game in their current state, then we can infer:

  • 40% of time and resource have been spent into graphics, cinematic and story/narrative
  • 40% of time and resource have been spent into battle pass and ways to monetize it
  • 15% of time and resource have been spent into PR and advertising
  • 5% of time and resource have been spent into actual gameplay
    a) out of these 5%, 3% is into combat
    b) the remaining 2% are divided into 1% classes/spells and 1% into items and itemization

But now that we have the graphics and narrative set, and the shop is all neat; then 100% of brainpower at ActivisionBlizz is going to be channeled into developing the actual gameplay. Brace yourselves.

I’d spray the current devs with a water gun also if I knew they were making D4 also… Maybe the cubicle crawlers knew something we didn’t before they got fired

Man I would mail them some breast milk if it meant we got some actual god damn talent on the team.

Maybe Breast Milk was the secret to making amazing games?

They probably don’t even create their own games entirely anymore.
They outsource the work to subcontractors to save costs.
This forum might also be developed by an external company.

And on top of that they can’t even play their own games properly.
So what do they actually do? It seems like they’re only focused on deceiving people.
Perhaps they are just salespeople who have been tasked with assuring people that
they know about games and convincing them to make purchases.

TBH… if the dude opened the fridge and saw a glass of milk, how was he supposed to know that it was breast milk?

Breast milk is full of vitamens

At least when selling clothes they don’t advertise that they sew them themselves.
Or maybe they do?
