I think the Diablo franchise as an isometric game will be shelved for a couple decades before we see another one.

I actually like this idea.

At the end of d5 both hell and heaven have a full blown war again and both got destroyed by the war, now there’s no hell no heaven, only “sanctuary” and humanity is no longer under the influence of angels and demons, we finally have free will! Hurray!

Yep. Take us to really dark places. Bring the M rating back to diablo and develop accordingly.

I kind of agree with this actually. I see other companies picking up the reigns and Diablo kinda dying off like Starcraft did. I see D:Immortal lasting though.

At the end of the day it will come down to profit margins. If its profitable they will continue, if its not it will be shelved.

Diablo once arpg is more entry arpg with a much wider net capturing the mobile gaming audience. So I still believe there will be that D5.

DI only captures a specific audence and id argue DI and D4 dont compete with each other.

I agree completely. We’ll see how it goes though. As you said it comes down to profit margins. Makes me curious how much the expansion has already made in preorders.

I doubt there will be a D5 before 10 years at least, there’s others games at Blizzard that needs to have a suite before, especially StarCraft and WarCraft. Also D4 can evolve a lot during the next 10 years, with expansions, content and engine updates, it’s quite a huge project comparing to D3 or D2. I don’t see what a “D5” can bring more for now.

You will wake up shortly after the end of D2.

D3 & D4 were nightmares that diablo baal and mephisto put into place as you destroyed the world stone.

The world stone was actually their soul stones thats why you had to beat normal nightmare and hell hence releasing all 3 prime evils.

You wake up in D5 relasing you were being held ina coma for all of D3 and D4 and it never even happened.

Now back in sanctuary its full scale war with hell having the upper hand.

I love that book and movie, but it’s always bothered me how Muldoon dies. The guy’s job was tending the dinosaurs. He was particularly worried about the raptors. In one scene, you can see them converge on the bull when fed. How in the world did a professional hunter not know how they hunted, especially when he knew how smart they were? Grant knew it based on bones. Muldoon literally observed them daily. End rant.

We see where this is going.
Our hero is “the wanderer”, as stated several places in game. Diablo is back. You’re him :joy:

I believe Mike Ybarra said they were already working on it. Don’t quote me tho.

Considering how they wasted the 3 most important characters in the history of Sanctuary (Lilith, Inarius, Rathma) whilst doing NOTHING of use with them to advance the story, what hopes do you have for D5?

Do you still even consider this game D4?

Just look at the latest expansion ffs, they’re a incapable of weaving together anything resembling a quality story a la D2.

But we’ll still have to listen to people complaining about how bad D4 is over the next 10 years while they still continue to play it.
