Oh this is even more then a good news…hmmm let me just HOPE they will slow it down, pretty please.
"The content creator who’s an influencer or is a tastemaker will be out there saying, ‘There’s nothing to do.’”
Fergusson explained that this demand from players is the reason why the game is currently “tuned very fast” a complaint that has been echoed by fans of slower ARPGs like Diablo 2.
“Then, literally this morning, my X thing goes off and I look at the notifications and it’s a person saying, ‘Hey, I just wanted to tell you I love the current season. I only get to play three hours every weekend. I’m actually making progress. It feels great.’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, can’t forget about those guys.’”
It’s hard to please anyone when you’re trying to please everyone.
Well it’s a matter of taste ofc. I don’t really want go back to D2R… I would like to play D4.
D3 is hyper casual console game why remake D4 into D3 tho, why they could not leave it unique as it was.
We will see
honestly i wouldnt want a pure d2 like in the early days either anymore. that was just too time consuming really. But the current state of diablo 4 is just waaaaaay too zoomy. ^^
Yeah I agree, even tho current D2R is way faster then D2LOD was. They raised a rune drops by a lot, so finishing the grind is way faster IMHO.
With D4 I would like soom good balance betwen D4 vanilla and current state.
The article was interesting and quite a surprise for me considering how the game has change since release.
Sure, it is easier to slow down the pace than add substantial new content every season but for me this is nonetheless good news. I know we have both here in the Forum Blasters and non-Blasters. I would fit in the second category even though I play more than a few hours per week.
I read here in the forum that D4 game manager said that there were more D2R players than D3 players. Maybe that explains the change in game direction for future seasons.
Indeed. I think they should not please everyone - you simply can’t, it’s not possible, audience of gamers is quite wide.
Was this game really intended for a person who plays only 3hrs/week or weekend ? They sure have numbers of average session or even hrs/week on average per player.
Also there wont be majority of “blasters” ingame who play 12+hrs/daily.
They should settle somewhere in the middle. Or if they want to please everyone develop arcade/casual/hardcore mode.
Same. Thing is until S3 i played one class each season. It was fun - was looking forward to every new season to play a different toon/build.
S6 - I made all classes in 1st month.
S7 - I made only one toon stopped at para140, was bored and didnt wanted to make another char.
For me game is too fast - it’s a shame some ppl can pay 3hrs/week , but hey then they should rather play eternal not seasons if they dont feel progress.
D2 is much faster than d4. If this joker makes this game a swamp, Im out. There’s nothing to do because developing content costs money and Lizzard is unwilling to spend it. They are not making and tuning a game, they are adjusting their cash extraction device.
Instead he deliberately forgets about the blasters. Currently there is NOTHING in the game for them. Comeing from a casual gamer that is NOT a good approach. Aslo why ignore challengeing content that can push back against a min-maxed char? When currently you don’t require to have defensive stats, mythics, or perfectly rolled affixes against anything the game can offer. I DON’T need any mythic unique and perfectly rolled 4GA items needing to be lvl300 paragon with maxed out glyps against any activity. And don’t tell me Pit 150, there is nothing above Pit 100 that that you want. No special rewards or anything. Even for me it feels unneccesary to max out my character, and deck it out in the most perfectly min-maxed gear possible. Agan, there is NOTHING that compells me, to strive for the highest possible power, in any activity or content in the game now, not even bragging rights. Interestingly, against all feedback, not to put content in the game that requires players to group up, they stuck with the Dark Citadell, and said “yeah solo players just have to deal with it, it’s only one activity”. Why can’t they create and stick just 1 activity, that requires you to be a hardcore blaster, to get through it, and say yeah casuals(like me) just have to deal with it, that they will be unable to finish the content and get the highest rewards? Like everyone is allowed to try, but don’t be surprised if even your broken S-tier build won’t be able to get through it, if you are unable to pour copious amount of time in to the game. There is the 99.99% of the game for you, leave the rest for the nolifer blastes. Why can’t they do that?
Most anything he says should be taken with a grain of salt.
Generally it is said to justify his own poor decisions but puts the blame on the customers instead.
Don’t bother with what is said, look at the results.
Mostly this. But also the design is flawed in that even the activities that do exist, tend to lose value in doing after you reach a certain point. The more you progress the less there is to do.
-revert grindyness and overall difficulty where the game launched
-keep the additional content since endgame was nonexistent in the above mentioned era
-make a gigantic balance patch like d3 once had so the quantity of item reworks will be minimal
-when you rework an item, make it retrospective so eternal players won’t get fooled every second season like they have been trolled s4 s5 s6 3 times in a row - this would mean players with limited time like the tweeter can play eternal for eternity (ba dum ts), so doesn’t matter how much freetime they have, they can get to the desired point, currently only seasonal makes sense
