One simple suggestion to make grinding more rewarding.
Step 1 - Chose the best gear that you currently have.
Step 2 - Grind for xxx number of materials and a special key ingredient (maybe a drop from a boss) and use them to select a stats that you want to upgrade your gear. The level will be randomized. There will be no limit to the number of stats that you can change.
Step 3 - The item level of the gear can be upgraded (up to a certain level) when you have accumulated a number of paragon points (the paragon points will not be capped). So basically, the gear will “grow” with you. Alternatively, if the paragon points need to be capped, then some of the paragon points can be re-allocated for upgrading of gears and the rest can be used to develop the character’s skills and power.
The above will help to solve the problems of not having the correct gear that you need as well as give some reasons for the grinding.
