Correct me if this has been fixed/changed, but why is there only one bar of skill options? Path of exile on console allows you to use two separate bars by using the triggers. Path of exile grim dawn, titan quest also allow it. Why would they limit skills and dampen build diversity? If they used the PoE method, it would unlock the PC to bind to whatever like D2R, so trigger or bumper, then 4 more. Not looking to argue…I simply think it would be more fun for both PC and console and increase build and play styles. I’m really hoping the ladder doesn’t end up like D3 where everyone is a clone. Fwiw, excited for the game. Seems like a weird oversight seeing how D1 and D2 allowed more binds and came out a couple decades ago.
Because they decided on 6 skills. They will be designing the game around having 6 skills and the interactions between those 6 skills. It’s a design decision and they won’t be changing it anytime soon, if ever.
Because in all the games you mentioned, most people end up focusing on a couple of skills in order to survive in the end game content. I have watched several videos of POE players completing end game content, and even though they can potentially use many skills, they simply don’t because not focusing will get you killed. Same thing applies to D2/D2R, Titan Quest, and Grim Dawn.
Overspreading your skill points will leave you weak in the endgame. In D4, you can only get 63 skill points all together (including the ones awarded through renown). If you intend on getting to the highest world tier, you will have a miserable time if you try getting too many active skills. The idea is to focus your skill points on the main skills you will use and then use passives to reinforce them, along with the paragon boards.
6 skills plus a dismount skill. . . I hope so anyway. I hope they dont make us use up and waste a skill spot for a dismount skill.
We already know all the skills. Why would you think they’d make you have a dismount skill on your bar?
Dismount skill had a specific keybinding. Can’t remember what it was. X maybe? Also not really a skill that does much damage. It is just for theatrics.
I’ve been playing Diablo since 2003, it’s very complex and so much fun but this restriction to 6 skills is very annoying. I understand the purpose of this restriction but I think it would have been better if this restriction would have been implemented in the Nightmare/Tormented mode not in the Veteran Mode and definitely not in the Normal Mode. I guess this restriction is going to be very annoying to someone new to Diablo(especially if they’ve played other RPG’s with a lot more flexibility to skill usage).
Whats the point of having so many skills to rank up and on top of that items that rank up skills if you cant use them?
