Diablo 4 Raids Misinformation!

That’s cool… .once again… projection

You’re telling me your idea of what you think should have happened or could have happened the way you think

But thank you. I’m done with this topic though. I’m really only here to discuss the topic of Diablo IV

How is following common social “etiquette” projection?
Manners are not as subjective. Either you learned them and follow them, or you dont.

Is this a well-timed April fool’s joke?

Haha…

Most of my waking hours are spent in business and international communications, so I took the question as a way broader meaning.

Mmm, interesting take.

The logic seems sound, unless Diablo IV Raiding will be used as a kind of catch all for those who tired from WOW content.

Personally, I would love to know Blizzards mission statement for Diablo. What is it they hope to achieve? What is their new goals or dreams for this game?

Are the people in charge in love with Diablo and Diablo 2, etc, in it’s current form or are they a different breed that loves MMO more?

I seriously feel that if Diablo is too far removed from the core structure that made it great, then we have ourselves something that’s going to kill a legacy.

It may survive in a different form, but the spirit is dead.

I don’t wish to see spirits keep dying from every foundation.

Get the sense of this too. However, 4-man raids (or 3 parties = 12 players which already is in the game) are still manageable. It’s going to be about presentation from here on out.
Not too many have complained that World Bosses (Ashava) in D4 have destroyed D4’s legacy.
Ok?
So construct a dungeon around the world boss, and add some crazy hard mechanics to the world boss, some resurrect limits, call it a raid boss, and there you go.

The dungeon idea around the Raid boss sounds nice if it can be worked out to keep the spirit of the game intact.

Like you just said, “It’s about presentation.”
I agree with that.

And also, Choice

The Devs need to give us choices to allow or disallow certain things in our world. For example: tonight, I don’t want to see other players, turn it off… I don’t want better gear to drop from World Bosses than I can find elsewhere, Make it available to us all.

The Great games work because players continue to play them.
Players continue to play these type of games because of immersion.

If you give players their choice of play, you give them their freedom.

For games such as these, Freedom of Choice is synonymous with Immersion

Oof, that seems like a deeply hard-wired design philosophy to be changing, but let’s hear what Blizzard says in 2 weeks.

The fact that D3 has such a huge playerbase makes me worry more than your concerns. I feel like you can entertain those players with any repetitive, stale, formulaic rubbish and hopefully that doesnt leak over into D4.

Aside from turning off players in the overworld, all content likely is optional. There is something to be said for proselytizing players by giving them a loving little nudge to try out team activities.

I mean same. That why it hit so hard. Thanks for the laughs.

When I was playing with my clan we found a way to get 8 of us in a world boss in a complicated uneccessary process. We found that it is possible though, just not officailly supported. We did it on PS5.

It would be great to be able to coordinate certain world events with a clan without accidentally tripping up the server and getting everyone suddenly vanished into their own realm.

We talked about how neat it would be in having seperate squads, each with their own hosts. So 1 squad can summon another squad for an event.

Solo players don’t have to participate in this type of gameplay. They can hopefully turn off UI features that make the game more immersive for them as well. But I’m all for the social experience in D4. I hope blizzard is able to find solid common ground for both ends of the spectrum. Realistically impossible to satisfy everyone.

That is IMO the best case scenario. When there is a real solo experience (private mode) AND a group experience (private party OR random people) in the game everyone can just enjoy it according to their preferences.

@Avalon could you add where this quote is from?

We haven’t had a single indication of D4 having forced raid or even group content in end game. World Bosses while sort of are forced multiplayer, they aren’t really end game as you could probably solo a World Boss at any world tier when you have your build together and can do harder nightmare dungeon tiers. Solo content(as far as we’ve seen) will scale far above world bosses and other world events.

Diablo (Far as I am aware,) at its core is still an ARPG (Multiplayer) game. Not an MMO like people are hoping or asking. ( Sorry that Lost Ark ended up being a fail for you, but not every game needs to go MMO. Look at Kingdoms of amalur for example. (Stellar game!) Went belly up trying to make the sequel into an mmo.) Just wait for the league of legends mmo.

I would enjoy an mmo styled diablo, (don’t get me wrong,) I just think it should be a spin-off (of sorts) or a entirely invested way to pave the future. (Once a game, (warcraft 3 for ex) converts into an MMO, there is no going back.)

Thank you! (…20 chars)

Sorry but…

No “OG’s” are going to be touching Diablo IV because its not a Diablo game. It is a crappy Activision title using the Diablo IP and it feels like processed cheese tastes.

This is what I’m hoping it does not actually become. There needs to be enough integrity still held at Blizzard to try to keep this game as close to its roots as possible.

No, we don’t need an MMO DIV, and nor the continued comparisons to Lost Ark or any other. They built their own paths off the path that the original Diablo created.

This is Diablo… If only the Devs can remember that.

FaB Azalea? If so, MY MAN.

these MMO elements remind me of the Sacred Cow perspective many MMOers had before WoW came out. Sorry, but if you stay on the tracks, progress will run you over.

That doesnt necessarily mean they are talking about raids. They seem to be talking about the shared open world. Currently, other than towns and the world boss there will be less than 12 people you can see in a zone. If it were more MMO like than you could see 50+ people in any given area. More if it wasn’t sharded.

Me personally, as an MMO player and also a Diablo player, I am fine with how the game is now. If they added the ability to full clan the world bosses instead of 4 + randoms then I would like that even better. I said in the last thread that I think thats what they were talking about.

If down the road they added some small 4-12 person raids I would like that too. Just don’t have it drop special loot and dont rebalance the entire game around them. I’ve been a competitive raider for a long time and enjoy those things but I don’t think this is the game to do it in.
