You can only redeem it through GeForce experience on PC with the qualifying GPU installed. I don’t know if you can technically redeem it for console since I only redeemed it for PC, but you will at least need a PC to redeem it.
Personally I refunded and just redeemed it. You can still upgrade to ultimate after.
These are the redemption instructions Newegg sent me:
Install your qualified graphics card.
Update or install the latest version of GeForce Experience. (Version 3.18 or higher)
Open and log in to GeForce Experience
Go to the Account drop-down menu and select “REDEEM”.
Enter your bundle code from your qualifying bundle purchase.
Follow the remaining instructions on screen to sign in through your Battle.net account.
Select “REDEEM” to redeem Diablo IV to your Battle.net account.
LAUNCH Battle.net to begin installation.
dont i lose the transmorp… earned in the beta’s?
I wouldn’t think so. I think the achievements are linked to your battlenet account, not your pre purchase. At least, I’d be shocked if it didn’t work this way. I actually didn’t preorder until after the last beta. But the achievement should be linked to my account, which now owns the game.
Yeah, considering you could get those without a game on your account, it seems guaranteed it is based on your bnet account.
Got my Nvidia code yesterday, and my card today.
Still lacking the rest of the new PC however Going to try to install the GPU in my old PC just to register the game. Why did they have to make registration that cumbersome…
Send a ticket to Blizzard after checking the “frequently asked questions” on the tech support page.
Most likely to prevent theft and people from reselling codes.
It kind of makes sense that they went this route. There would be way too many people trying to resell keys for cheap and the game’s perceived value would plummet.
No, I don’t think so. The Beta rewards did not even require the game purchase at all! They are Achievement flags tied to your Battlenet account. They are not tied to that license. You are free to refund the paid version you have, and add the promo version.
Mocha seems to have great advice and directions above.
I am REALLY glad to see this is tied to having the Vid card installed. That is going to pretty much prevent all reselling of those keys.
If you really wanted to, it would not be that hard to show up with your card at a buyers house, and install it for 5 minutes
Also, it can be resold to people who have previously bought and installed any RTX 4000 card, of which there are still quite a few. They cant exactly check if it is the specific card that you bought.
I somewhat get why they are doing it. On the other hand, does it really matter who paid for the card. It is still just one key per card sold. Kinda like how they are having WoW subscriptions these days that other players paid for. Blizzard get their money regardless.
One thing to keep in mind with the GeForce Experience requirement: Once you’ve redeemed the code you should not need GFE any longer since the key is ultimately tied directly to your Battle.net account, not your GFE account. It’s a resource hog and is highly unstable with a lot of games (even more so if you have not disabled nVidia’s Ansel background daemon permanently). The less one has to use GFE the happier they will be.
I don’t think it works like that. It has to be a qualifying card and one of the qualifications is that the cards have to be sold within a specific range of dates. If someone with a 40 series card from 2022 for example tries redeeming it they are clearly not eligible for the promotion and it’s easy for Nvidia to see that it’s not eligible.
That depends on a couple of things. Primarily, it depends on whether or not the card was sold with the code on a piece of paper in a separate package, which is very likely as that is how all previous nVidia promotions have been done where each vendor is given a set number of codes to pack in with GPU purchases. Remember, a lot of the 40-series have been sitting on shelves for a very long time because nVidia made the poor choice of pricing most people out of the market even with the 4070/Ti versions, so a lot of older stock will be paired with the promo codes by the vendors.
The other half of that would be whether or not the person registered the card’s serial number prior to the promotion (which they’d have been smart to do given the +12VHPWR issues).
An example of something that falls under both scenarios not triggering would be the 4070 Ti cards that were originally “4080” 12 GB models. Those were manufactured last year, but were “unlaunched” and rebranded as 4070 Ti GPUs instead and released in January of this year, with I’m sure a lot of them still on the shelves due to their absurd pricing for such a pared down card that should rightfully have been launched as a 4060 Ti (that GPU slow motion trainwreck is a rant for another thread entirely).
I could have a 2022 4090 and if I haven’t registered it yet, I could get a code from someone and use GFE to install it and nVidia wouldn’t know the difference. Ironically most of that is them shooting themselves in the foot (multiple times) with their ridonkulous GPU pricing causing people to not buy them early on (or at all thus far).
is possible reedem diablo iv nvidia asian code on geforce experience with vpn and then activate it on battle net europe? or is locked to battle net asian server?
thx for info
can we upgrade the code from the standard to the deluxe to gain early access?
That should be possible. Once there is a key on your Battlenet account, the shop should automatically calculate the price difference between the versions and you can buy the Ultimate edition for whatever that delta is.
The code is the same as pre-ordering the standard edition for all intents and purposes. It still comes with the lightbearer mount and all cross-game items. I had no problems upgrading mine to the ultimate edition for the price difference between the ultimate edition and standard.
You have to grant Nvidia access to info on your battle.net account to redeem the code. It’ll ask you to grant the permission. I don’t see how using a VPN is going to prevent them from being able to see that you’re trying to use a code from Korea or Taiwan with a European bnet. Whether they’ll allow it or not is up to them but iirc the codes are region specific.
I dont recall seeing anyting about them being region specific. Would seem bad if they were. I mean, battlenet accounts have existed for decades now. People could, and have, moved plenty of times in those years.
And D4 is supposed to not have regions either.
These are account bound, so as long as you redeem the game on the correct account, you should be fine.
Small exception. South Korea requires a national ID when setting up the account. If someone later moves to South Korea, Blizzard can’t update the address on the account to Korea. The account has to be originally made there.
This would not normally matter, given you can play an account from anywhere. BUT the phone number on it has to match the country on it for the Authenticator or any SMS services to work. That means when someone moves and then has a South Korean phone, they can’t put it on their non-Korean Bnet account so lose access until they are back in their home country.
