I must say I agree with others when said Diablo 4 is the best.
I’ve been following/playing since Diablo 1 and yes I’ve played Path of Exile and other isometric action games, RPG’s, ARPGs (role playing games) of it’s kind - In my personal opinion after participating heavily in the Server Slam, Diablo 4 is not only the best in the series as a whole, also the best overall in the genre in it’s history back to the 80s.
To the naysayers give it a chance, to everyone who shunned any previous title because it does what no other Diablo title has done in many ways.
It feels like a better game.
There are many games upfront and out of the box that fail to reach that polished status this game does. The controls are amazing (I tested PC) and the game overall is a perfect blend of darkness, playability, hack-and-slash yet it really gives me that RPG immersion. Playing the storyline is amazing and honestly one I am truly invested in with every objective sometimes feeling lost but in just the right way it was reminiscent of that famous Legend of Zelda gold cartridge for the NES yet also modernized to rival titles such as FFXIV in as an optional play for those looking for that level of customization.
Regardless of if you agree with me. At least play and see for yourself.
Pretty bizarre thrown ins used here (I am from that gold cartridge era, was only 6 tho).
I…don’t get it.
Also FF14 is an “mmorpg entry game” for mainly very young people, focusing on story elements heavily and almost throwing out every competitive online concept. It is a game for children or those who believe games should be “a tranquil break from the cruel britches of reality”…type of deal
Nah, older people like “a tranquil break from the cruel britches of reality” too. Although I don’t get why “britches” are cruel unless they’re too tight. And yes, I do recognize that might be because you wanted to deliberately spell it wrong to escape forbidden word filters.
However, I’ve been playing MMO’s since Everquest, but stopped at FF14. My favorite ones are Anarchy Online and The Secret World, but both are dead now. They still exist, though. Both of them lost subscribers because they were too hard.
If you are not looking for a “tranquil break”, it’s you that are in the wrong place by playing Diablo. It’s pretty much easy mode too.
Try Eve Online instead. I even found it fun for awhile because it also caters to sheep for the wolves to kill. It’s simple for us sheep. Don’t accept gifts from strangers, don’t whine in chat, and don’t fly a shiny ship.
No I did mean “trousers”…I heard it, I don’t know if it’s correct nor do I care, it sounds like it makes sense and that’s how I role.
I don’t know what animal would need to say the “B” would unless they despise FF14 players but all I have to say about the communities that love to exist there is that they tend to be incredibly obsessive loners who like every cutesy anime out there and I don’t want to go any further than that
That’s not just nostalgia either I go back and play it at times. Last was about 2 years ago. Scrolls, a global magic system, versatility among classes, reasonable itemization.
The movement might drive people crazy but normalized movement plays a big role in how you engage enemies. There were a lot of things I wish got carried over.
You indeed gave me pause as to how I wrote my passage. The fact that Diablo 4 can invoke various pieces of other great games of such caliber in their respective areas is what I wanted to highlight.
I agree with you that Diablo as a whole is mature and Diablo 4 really brought back that feeling of Diablo 1-2 in regards to the level of darkness almost feeling like a scary movie at times when focused on the story and playing solo. (for me)
Yes indeed D1 is the beginning, a solid title and forever holds a place in my life for its time. I feel like D4 captures that essence well with its “magic system”, versatility and itemization. I love the pull away from stat points and needing a primary stat as you main damage dealer as in opposition to D3 while still capitalizing on aspects of D1, 2 and 3 ultimately coming ahead stronger even early on.
Yeah, act 1 was good
Interesting idea, and it would be great as Cain has come to be a mascot of sorts for the series. However, I agree with Zebedin.
lol people judging the quality of a game based on modern criterias is like saying the Isaac Newton was an idiot because he didnt know quantum physics
Diablo 2 is the hands down the best in the franchise, Diablo 1 is its legendary foundation
Diablo 4 doesnt show any sign of being able to beat those 2, especially in the current era of gaming where more effort is put into milking players than providing the absolute best game
I truly appreciate not only your perspective, also your choice of comparison; That is a solid point.
While not the foundation nor a 20 year history of success in re-playability its amazing in D4 “premise and potential” especially if Blizzard continues on this path of quality of product VS a SaaS model essentially aiming to milk aspects of a genre as you stated for money. “If you build it they will come” as it were. Opportunity as Riddick put it in his post is key with D4.
Kilometer-11340 - This Final Fantasy Eikon Video is AMAZING!
Also, IMO not an ARPG.
There are many crossover aspects yet this in my opinion is more of a “Tournament Style” or even “Beat em up/sidescroller” however that is simply my opinion which I admit could be wrong, yet I stick firmly by it not being an ARPG.
Not everyone will agree with my opinion which is something I know.
There are many in life who are somewhat futuristic in their vision, able to see between the lines where others may not until something tangible presents itself. We are all human, all connected and all in this together in the end despite IQ, vision or any other delineating value.
I look forward to whatever may come, including playing this wonderful game that has been built by the hands and minds of others, with you.
I’m not sure it’s fair to compare a single player action RPG with a multiplayer game. But if I were including them, then Horizon Zero Dawn The Beauty of Horizon Zero Dawn - YouTube gets my vote as the best ever RPG story. I’m also an avid reader of science fiction and HZD’s story ranks pretty high. I also am an American, so I recognize the areas depicted in the game.
But that’s not a relevant comparison to the Diablo series. It’s a multiplayer game. All of the Diablo games are pretty flat when played solo. All of them only really shine when played with other players, at least for me.
Despite my admiration for HZD, I haven’t yet completed its sequel.
I much prefer playing games with family and friends.
Edited Note: And so I’m looking forward to D4’s release. There are at least 7 other players that I know who played the open beta, and 5 who have the pre-order version. Plus another friend I met in another game who plans to play it when it is released.
The one thing I think is important to ask is this: Could you see a line of people waiting to buy a copy of this back in the 90s? Cause if you ask me I see the line going around the Gamestop and into another business.
After playing all betas and endgame up to 96 I can tell you straight up its hands down the best Diablo product around and probably the best within its genre too.
I also like that it breaks the Diablo mold and isn’t identical to the other games in the series, it’s a different beast which makes it a new game in itself.
