Diablo 4 has two expansions cooking already

“Diablo general manager Rod Fergusson gave a wide-ranging interview to Kinda Funny about the game’s early reception and, while discussing the live service element, casually mentioned that the team is now working on not one, but two expansions for the game. Fergusson said that the working process for Diablo 4 had to take account of the fact the game’s development is intended to be a marathon rather than a sprint, and Blizzard didn’t want a situation where the game launched and the team who made it was burned out.”

But there is no trading, no community, and itemization is completely crap.
Its overly complicated, and literally D3.

So, uh, Paladin/Crusader in xpac 1, monk/sin in xpac 2?

I don’t get this monster diversity complaint. I’ve seen more mobs in Act 1 than I did in the whole of D2 it seems. In fact I’d rather there be less diversity as every single place I go to it seems there’s a new type of mob.

I think its the large nature of the world and how spread out it is. I get that it has a lot of different monsters but it can feel sparse because of the scope.

Translation for those of you new to Live Service games:

“Over the course of the next few years, you will eventually be sold features and content that should have been in the game from the start, along with a few new things so that we can call each iteration a proper 'expansion.”

The story set it up for the next one, which given the cost and time was only going to be expansions. Blizzard isn’t about the Fifa/Madden 2020,2021,2022 thing. They want to put in the minimum amount of effort for the most amount of money.

It should have been quite obvious this game is setup to do what Ubisoft and Arenanet have capitalized on.

Also, expansions are just that. Expansions. They are far older than DLC and short of a whole new game. Every old school mmo charged for expansions + kept a monthly sub. I don’t see the issue with expansions, so long as they keep true to their cosmetic only shop (even if that is an abomination in it’s own right).

That’s basically the gaming industry in a nutshell these days. AAA games that are glorified DLC, DLC that should’ve been in the game to begin with. Reskins, remasters, Ultimate Glory King on High Version 2.5. Milking gamers left and right.

Waiting for expansion is a shorter cooldown than my skills.

Money Money Money!!!

Good. Bring on the content and some new classes. My body will be ready once I clear the 100s of hours of content in the base game lol.

5 tiers of gems seem like enough for me, not sure just how much extra power you want. Perhaps having more than 5 gem levels would also require an increased level limit or something to balance it out.
