I have played with all the characters, exploring everything and trying all the mechanics. I’m going to say what I liked the least. To begin with, the level system, if in Diablo 3 it was a joke, since everything was automatic when it came to raising attributes, here in D4 it doesn’t even exist. Everything will depend on the power of the equipment you have (red Lost Ark, in addition to having to make gestures to interact with statues)… Also, what cannot be, that my brother playing with a mage of lvl 22 and me with a barbarian From lvl 8 go so far for the dungeons.
He with legendary and I with blue, I do not like that the world adapts to your level. The merchant, blacksmith, etc… all very generic, you can only buy between 2 to 3 objects, there are no identification scrolls, or portals, there are no mana potions, all the objects occupy 2 slots, it doesn’t matter if it’s a I think it’s a gem… everything’s super generic and simple… it’s left me very cold, knowing that I’ve paid €100 for the ultimate edition… If you didn’t like Diablo 3, you’re going to like it less, I think Not even those who liked Diablo 3 are going to like this game… I really hope that’s the case only in the Beta… Otherwise, their hair is going to fall out, with Diablo 3 it already fell out for much less…
You do realise you named some of the most annoying things from D2, right?
No health potions and mana potions? Good, I hate spamming those. They are a hassle, not a fun mechanic.
All items taking in two slots (which isn’t the case, since gems take up one slot but fine): good. I am playing an ARPG, not tetris.
Can’t buy the gear I need from shops: shouldn’t have to in a loot based game to begin with.
No identifications scrolls: good. Or did you think running back to town or carrying identification scrolls around added to the fun?
Not having to carry around portal scrolls: good. Again, what is fun or challenging or complex about having to carry teleport scrolls? They add nothing to the game.
Those were all bad mechanics in D2. Getting rid of those things is good.
Don’t get me wrong, you are entitled to your opinion on the game. But if you are going to compare it with D2 (and if you like D2 so much, go and play D2 for crying out loud), then name good mechanics from that game, not bad ones.
Yes, it is kinda fun. The suspense of finding an item, seeing its armor type, but not knowing yet what exactly you are getting. I always liked that.
I don’t compare it with D2 itself, but with the entire DIABLO SAGA… They have removed the role of the game, the essence that made DIABLO great, they did a great job with D2R. This is not an ARPG nor is it an MMO… Nor is the Clan system useless when in Warhammer Inquisitor it was fun to be in a clan… Come on, we are talking about a game that should be the best in all aspects, is the father of the ARPG… But from being an Action RPG, it is now an ARCADE without rpg… .
“No identifications scrolls: good. Or did you think running back to town or carrying identification scrolls around added to the fun?”
No, for you it is more fun to do side missions to deliver mail, run to the city and deliver the mission. Which are also repeated over and over again…
They sell us a Diablo 2 Arpg, it’s not a Diablo 2 or an arpg… that’s the problem…
