Diablo 4 for macOS

Blizzard, can we get Mac support please?

Mac does not support DirectX.

Developing Diablo 4 for MAC would essentially be making an entire game from scratch.

Nice troll dude. Who tf games on a Mac LOL!

apple just announce their new Mac porting tool kit, I wonder if it’ll make it will justify bringing in Mac people you know

It may have gotten support on Mac if Apple was still using Intel processors and Nvidia/AMD GPUs. Now that Apple has moved to developing everything completely in-house, making games compatible with Apple’s exclusive chips must be way too much work and not worth the investment.

There is a port tool that was released in beta that provides an emulation layer to Apple devices running the M silicon chips. Using that port tool which is basically like Crossover, users have gotten D4 to run on Macbooks.

Neither does Sony Playstation and nor did the MacOS back when Diablo 3 was released. I get that this is a value proposition question but Apple is shipping more and more systems with more than enough power to play D4 well and Blizzard has a history with Mac Gamers so it is worth asking them?
What is it going to take before you come back to the Mac?

Thanks for your insight, but Blizzard has supported Mac gaming for decades and D4 is the first new diablo title to not make the move. It is reasonable that Mac gamers wonder if this game will be brought over.

So for the past 2 years you have been running a 6 year old entry level computer computer with intel integrated graphics and now you have a new gaming configured system that runs better? I’m shocked. I think most of us are asking will Diablo be ported for the new M series of Macs (and maybe some higher end intel systems with AMD graphics) going forward.
We know the hard ware is capable because we have tested it with the GamePorting tool kit but it is not exactly the seamless experience we expect from Blizzard.

Seeing as how Activision was just bought out by Microsoft, I highly doubt they would invest the time and money to make D4 run on Mac hardware. Yes previous games were able to run on Mac OS and hardware before all the major changes to Mac. However the sales on Mac were extremely low per game. Very hard to justify labor costs to essentially recreate the game when it won’t even get you 5% of the total sales.

If the sales figures were higher, you’d definitely see a port over to Mac. It’s all about the money.

Gaming on mac…

this forum hates it when you bring up ARM, Mac, Linux and Consoles… it’s all one big hive brain entity that is scared of alternative ideas and opinions.

Learn to walk the line or you’ll get kicked out (literally, they will go on alts and trash you all day)

it’s a very sad experience

Would really love to see Blizzard take a crack at Mac M series chip compatibility. With some help using Game Porting Tool Kit. i know it works, since I tried it myself last year, but install process takes a lot of work in terminal, not very intuitive for the general user.

I looked into playing D4 on Linux (my desktop’s on W10 and when MS stops support, planning to go Linux) and people say they’ve gotten it to work fine.

Since OSX (and I assume later versions) and Linux are both derived from Unix, shouldn’t there be some open source software to make D4 playable for Macs?

I guess you need a real computer to play Diablo 4
