Diablo 4 Druid Feedback

Hey! Just got level 25 and been messing around with plenty of builds and armor and crafting and farming.

So far I noticed …

1.) SKILLS There needs to be a capability to lock in a secondary skill slot for passives. For example, I love Cyclone Armor, and I love my pet summons but I don’t enjoy the active component of each of the abilities at all. I’m sure many classes like Barbarian run into the same issue I run into on my druid.

  • Either add more skills slots in general or add a secondary bar for secondary skills for Passive and Active skills. That way on this passive bar you won’t be able to use the skill active ability just benefit from the passive ability.

Example: Summon Dire Wolves on this passive bar will only have the wolves active. It will not allow you to activate its attack dmg active ability.

2.) Aspects I love the addition of aspects and the capability to go off into the dungeons and farm and explore them. The only thing I noticed is that these aspects are not vast in number and don’t target all types of builds.

  • I know this is the beta I just hope we really get more diverse builds in the Aspects tree.

3.) Unfinished or Weak Skills I noticed while playing the druid that “Werewolf!” is really weak. The spells like “Claw” don’t cleave making the damage output of Werewolf really weak. In a comparison of the “Maul” ability of Werebear which cleaves and hits the same as “Claw” devalues the choice for even going “Werewolf”.

This is also shown through Shred as it also doesn’t hit nearby enemies. As well as the damage is exceptionally weak compared to the pulverized proc from being full Werebear which hits 1000 instantly.

Werewolf is really squishy. Really squishy. Like really squishy. This is my viability and durability tier list for the builds.

  • Earth Build W / Pet Summons - S TIER

Strengths: Wolf, Vine creeper dmg, fortify through earth skill use, direct earth skill stun chance, high critical chance, blood howl heal, cyclone dmg reduction.

Weakness: primary dmg is physical, not magic due to earth skill dependency, depending on the enemy type can take a long time to kill, and AoE is dependent on Spirit for Landslide spam.

  • Lightning Build W / Pet Summons - A TIER

Strengths: Wolf and vine creeper dmg, Strong AoE magic dmg, blood howl heal

Weakness: No fortify on skill use like earth build, super starved on the spirit for skills, lack of CC capability besides vine creeper AoE, Single target spells like Wind Shear don’t cleave and have a wonky hitbox.

  • Werebear / Storm-Earth / Summons - B Tier

Strengths: Strong AoE stun capability, Strong AoE knockback capability, Unstoppable capability, Cleave on basic skill use through Maul, can alternate between more AoE dmg or assistance from wolf and vine creeper use, Fortify through roars and defensive abilities like blood howl to regenerate health. SUPER FUN AND RELIABLE IN GROUP CONTENT!!

Weakness: Dmg is not consistent whatsoever, Trample can be quite difficult to aim and requires a terrain to do its stun, The pulverize is proc related and is dependant on the ramp up for it and it can take quite a long time, oddly enough this Werebear is not as tanky as the Earth Build nor does it do as much dmg.

  • Werewolf / Storm-Earth / Summons - C Tier

Strengths: Well you look and feel cool! The ultimate Lacerate is freaking amazing!

Weakness: The damage output is weak it doesn’t cleave! The damage ratios are also extremely LOW for not being able to cleave. Werewolf is SQUISHY no fortify but blood howl and that’s it! Even with storm-earth skills mixing with the build we run into a resource conflict as you find yourself using more of storm or earth instead of werewolf defeating the purpose.

  • Summons - F Tier

Strengths: The pet graphics are amazing! Wolf pets pretty much can tank. AFK Dmg.

Weakness: The fully upgraded active ability for each pet other than Vine Creeper is lack luster, it has a huge lack of damage. Especially Ravens and Wolfs even if you max them! There is no ultimate summoner ability for your pet tree. The companions don’t heal off your blood howl. The use of the ravens’ skill is really weak and the radius is exceptionally small.

4.) Druid Customization Don’t do it Blizz! Don’t make me be the giant ugly giant man/woman Druid. Let us choose our body type! I really don’t want to be some mammoth human like I have to be in World of Warcraft.

Let us be normal-sized humans!!!

lol, no. Druid is heavily dependent on gear. If you get the right gear for a build, any build can be S tier. If you don’t get the right gear, all builds are F tier.

Here’s the companion “F” tier build you mentioned:

Legendary powers with 300%+ multipliers are the reason Druid is so bad / annoying to play for most players.

Barb + Druid = End Game raid bosses.

pretty much. Barb / Druid are early game plebs… worse than a single Necro skeleton. End game they are more OP than the World Boss.

What the heck trash balance is that?

That is pretty crazy. Hopefully, Werewolf gets that scaling but I don’t think so the skills are just awful.

gosh, no. I hope they remove all those crazy multipliers and instead, make the base skills much stronger (like Rogue).

This multiplier nonsense is how D3 ended with dmg in the billions and builds that rely on items.

Preach! We need body options for all classes! Even if it is just select from the available 5 classes body type. Anything, but this druid who won’t sell cosmetics unless the cosmetic involves a diet (in that case probably the best selling cosmetic in D4. Don’t get any idea here Blizz! Body options!).

i think the artists did an incredible job with the druid. great style choice. really sets him apart from the others as well

In, basically, two months… you do realize that the scaling work, redesigns, etc. would make this impossible. Maybe at best this could be an expansion thing. I am sure the artists are working on other projects for later D4 stuff right now or other properties.

i dont see anything wrong with the male druid body. the female druid body is just really bad. why making a character that portraits morbid obesity? there are people irl going through alot of pain and suffering because of that, yet they decide to make a character looking like that? won’t be surprised if they add another lawsuit because of it.

body options woulden’t work for this game. it would really break inmersion totally. imagine a fat sorcerer running around? i don’t think this will happen. it is easier to tone the female druid model though

Oh there is no way I’d expect such a thing by launch. Either a slow drip feed after a couple seasons or part of an expansion (logistically this seems right to me because adding a new class with modeling and armor meshes have the team also add more character creator options) seems reasonable. The team definitely has other work to do in the near future, but getting back to the character creator so it isn’t completely lack luster should be on their list to get back to when things lighten up.

I agree on the most part.
I tried and can speak only for melee Druid, since I don’t care about casters.

Werebear even tho maul does cleave, has very low attack speed, it should be like Diablo 2 where Druid can see 2 handed with more attack speed from other classes, cause now gathering spirit with such low attack speed, only to use, max, 3 pulverize skills in row till run out, feels so squishy. Also, as you said, it lacks in survivability so much. WBear counts on fortify which I found so weak stat. Plus the design is just poor for fortify, cause it gives fortify based on BASE hp when werewolf’s life steal is based on MAXIMUM Hp, this difference is huge.
I was able to clear trash with 1 pulverize, overpowered, but that’s why these mobs are called Trash.

As a werewolf I have to disagree with you. I found it so strong. I barely used any healing potion, it has insane life steal, higher attack speed, my shred was cleaving and doing high dmg and poison on top of it.

The other big issue here, is with these players who saying that Druid, will be beast at late game. Is something NONE of us knows yet cause we played till 25 lvl and we provide feedback for that.
Plus this isn’t Diablo 2 where we used to start as fireball for example, only to respec after 30 lvl to blizzard cause cold sorc is super weak early on.
I don’t want to reach lvl 50+ and to respec all my skills cause werebear is weak at low lvls.

So far my feedback and my experience was pretty bad as a WBear Druid. When a build becomes viable with 10 legendaries, then the build has an issue. Imagine that the drop rate in live D4 won’t be the same with beta. So beside some passives which can be obtained from dungeons, we might never find the core legendaries to make this build viable.

I got very lucky with my Druid and was able to run a very fun hybrid shapeshift only build between both werewolf/werebear. It was synergizing so well that I don’t even think I needed to choose an Ultimate ability and was kind of peeved I had to.

Kind of just wish they’d give us 1 more button slot dedicated to Ults since you can only choose one Ult anyways.

Anything is possible. It is a video game.

But character customization is a defining part of the Player - Us designing a character that represents our avatar how we want it.

Locking us into a fat male or fat woman model with few customizations is cruel.
This is 2023, a great example of this is to look at Lost Ark! You can design your character.

This scenario is no different than locking the characters in Diablo 2 it was really unenjoyable to play a set template character.
