Can we get a souls games in a Diablo 1 remake? A smaller Souls-like game were you play as Aidan and get to meet all the characters from Diablo 1 like Moreina, Jazreth, Lazarus, Leoric, Albrecht etc?
We will get the full ARPG Diablo world in D4 and thats cool the game can advance to be good/solid.
Right now and probably for a long time Souls Games are just cooler than ARPGs, Diablo 1 would be perfect for a Souls games as the world is very dark/gotic and the game played like a souls game in the past, bosses were very hard and the dungeons as well, probably Diablo 1 was the most souls likes game ever, you also had shortcuts to town from the crpyt, caves, hell etc.

This is an amazing idea. Truly. The story / world of D1 would make an incredible open world RPG.
Hell no. I absolutely hate soulslikes. If you are going to remake a game keep it the same genre it originally was.

I would prefer having a Diablo Point & Click Adventure game, an icehockey game that could be played by only using two buttons and a Super Diablo Cart Racing game.

Blizzard developed something like that, but they cancelled it.
There was already some rumors about a souls diablo in the past. Like 8 years back or so.
I still think a good diablo souls game would be a pinnacle game.
But I do not trust blizz doing it right.
Also the first souls game was a game called
Severance - Blade of Darkness by a small Spanish developer.
That game influenced my gaming habits a lot and it’s one of my best gaming memories.
It’s sadly outdated nowadays but back then it was the real deal.
I’d rather see a D1 remake that’s more like modern arpg’s. I really can’t stand the whole souls like thing.

Imagine having to run over loot goblins to get your power-ups instead of the ? box. If I can’t launch a Frozen Orb at Mephisto to knock him off of the High Heavens track then I don’t even know what we’re doing here.

No Rest for the Wicked says hi. I’m waiting for it to officially release and come out of early access myself. You’ll never see this in a Diablo game though, even if it’s a remake of D1, which they would never do.

Only if it has difficulty levels at least as reasonable as Jedi’s.
You’ll alienate a lot of Diablo fans without that as the series is not exactly difficult, and Diablo fans should really be part of the target audience.
If that’s the case though I wouldn’t be against it. It could definitely synergize with D1’s slower, more methodical combat.
Difficulty level is a hard no. Make it exclusive to us masochists.

That’s basically D3: you can speed through hordes of mobs, or pull the entire map together and AOE it down
If Blizzard want to make a soulslike fine, just do it with a new IP and not the one I love to play. I loathe the difficulty of soulslike games. I don’t want to see the game I like playing be turned into a soulslike. And I’m reasonably sure I’m not the only one that feels that way.
I’m still not opposing the idea that Diablo could be something more than a grind simulator.
Warcraft has been traditionally a RTS, and they have decided to try mmorpg instead of making a warcraft 4. Guess what? It was a huge success and made blizzard one of the most valuable company on the market for a while.
The same goes for helldivers, HD1 was fairly niche, and it was more of a RTS than shooter. They’ve decided to change it up and made it into a 3rd person shooter, huge success right there for a while as well.
I would be pretty excited if they want to do a world of Diablo or souls like Diablo, it could be a spin off, maybe they’ll retcon it if it became a commercial success, who knows.
