Here are my list of the pros and cons of the Necromancer skill “Decompose” in Diablo 4 and how to improve it:
Pros:
- Currently, no specific advantages have been identified.
Cons:
- Low damage: The skill doesn’t deal a significant amount of damage.
- Locked in place: Using the skill immobilizes the player.
- Exposed as a target: The player becomes an easy target for enemies while using the skill.
- No AoE: The skill doesn’t have an area of effect, unless you have an aspect that only gives you 2 more targets.
- Channeling is broken: Every time you cast another spell, the channeling of Decompose is interrupted.
- Inefficient nodes: The nodes associated with this skill are not beneficial.
- Shadow skill: As a shadow skill, it competes with Corpse Explosion (CE) or Blight, which are skills you need to spam, and using them breaks your channeling.
Suggestions to Improve Decompose:
- Aura Effect: Decompose could be a channeling skill that creates an aura. Anything inside the aura gets affected by Decompose.
- Movement: While channeling Decompose, the Necromancer can move around and you get a 20% increased movement speed for you and your minions.
- Acolyte’s Decompose: Acolyte’s Decompose should give +damage and damage reduction to minion and player.
- Initiate’s Decompose: Initiate’s Decompose should slow enemies and increase the amount of damage ticks.
- Aspect Addition: Add an aspect that says Decompose builds up over 3 seconds and explodes with additional damage.
- Decrepify and Iron Maiden: Add an aspect that says while channeling Decompose, both Decrepify and Iron Maiden become part of the Decrepify aura.
- Minion Incorporation: Add an aspect that incorporates minions. Maybe give while channeling, your minions go into a frenzy attacking anything inside the Decompose aura with 100-150% attack speed.
Please note that these are just my thoughts.
PS. all minion Aspacts should give some kind of benefit to the player also.
