so, i emptied my inventory and did 1 run of aldurwood +5
the result is 4 legendaries, and 17 rares, and mind you i dropped 8 magical items because i was originally going to make a point but decided that the point is abundantly obvious without picking up the magic items.
decision fatigue is a thing, and it absolutely is exhausting to go through 21 items after a dungeon and decide what is and isnt good. you could easily give me 1/4th of these items and i would be happy, especially if you made it so good combos are about 4* easier to get since you split the item drops by 4.
i dont need these many items. its tiring to go through them.
-just salvage them
maybe, i mean they are all just word garbage mods im sure, but thats not the point, i have to examine them and read the mods and make sure none are something ridic like perfect CDR VUL CRIT DMG to close
-y u pick up trash tho?
read above.
-why not just mouse over them and if they dont have same mods as your gear but better salvage them.
because alts. because trades, because reasons.
this is just dumb. im not a 5 year old you just toss shiny things at hoping to keep entertained long enough to give you another 25$ on a battle pass.
seriously. just stop the item spam, its unnecessary.
You should be able to do 1 a half sec glance. Like all ARPG you have your class tops stats. You look does that peiece have 3 of them… No its garbage. Same wiith legendarys. Unless its like a +4 to a skill but bad stats Id look more into it.
I pick up everything too, and I need to because of the enchant cost. People who say don’t pick up everything forget that they were also once poor and needed to pick up stuff to sell so they can enchant the next piece.
Not everyone has been at 100 since eternity and have a couple billions of cash to throw around. (Also, not everyone follows a guide and only ever spend money on exactly the right piece of gear.)
Back on topic, yeah, decision fatigue is a thing. This is also why I can’t play this game for long sessions. Every 2-3 dungeon runs I need to close the game and take a break.
It’ll improve a lot once you have your build and you are only looking for that one or two more pieces, of course.
There’s just no escaping this in a game where items come with randomized stats.
So I take breaks, go touch glass (it’s summer, it’s hot outside, I’m not going to go touch grass; touching my windows is good enough for me), and come back later if I feel like it.
I’m not sure I want tooltips covering my screen during combat though.
Personally I think this is another case of nolstalgia taking priority over user-experience. Too many people (perhaps even the devs) just want a beautified version of D2 that they welcome and want archaic systems and experiences in a 2023 game.
I can’t blame them, as I can understand that sentiment, having experienced the dawn of PC gaming myself. But I disagree with them and think that there are some things that should just be left in history.
Personally I want a rule-based loot filter that will automatically mark items for selling.
I want to set up a rule that says, “if weapon type != staff, then mark as garbage” on my Druid, to go with a rule that says “if weapon DPS < 2300, then mark as garbage”.
A system like that would eliminate so much housekeeping and let me enjoy killing monsters so much more.
