Dear Asmongolders: Complaints are acceptable, HOWEVER, Do not whine

I have morals.

Kids these days.

“My fanboy crew will play the game no matter how bad it gets, quit whining and do your chores!”

How about no? If the majority stick around in the short term, what kind of metric is that?

If 51% of players play a game they paid 60-100 bucks for keep playing, that is success?

“If you didn’t know of a problem you wouldn’t be concerned about it!”

Guy, it’s this kind of BRILLIANT examination we have all come here for. Keep up the good work.

well its probably subjective but imo Asmon has a pretty good take on this last patch review :

  • Asmongold provides an in-depth look at the extensive patch notes for Diablo 4’s first major content update. He systematically analyzes the myriad changes and nerfs, as well as players’ negative reactions.

  • Nearly every aspect of the game was nerfed and slowed down - damage output, defenses, crowd control abilities, leveling speed, helltide events, etc. Vulnerability, cooldown reduction, crit damage also saw heavy nerfs.

  • Players complain the game now feels tedious and grindy, with unnecessary extra steps added to gameplay loops. Asmongold agrees the changes don’t solve core issues and just reduce fun.

  • Asmongold thinks the developers myopically focused on statistical balance, without sufficiently considering how changes would affect real player engagement and enjoyment.

  • He points out the changes fail to resolve overreliance on vulnerability damage. Vulnerability remains a top damage stat, so the gameplay loop is unchanged. The devs didn’t rework the system, just nerfed numbers.

  • Asmongold methodically analyzes each class’s changes, highlighting how abilities, damage, and crowd control were gutted. He sees minimal meaningful improvements.

  • He believes the devs want players to feel weaker and die more often. Lowering defenses and crowd control works to that end.

  • Asmongold examines the new Malignant Heart seasonal buffs coming in patch 1.1. Some provide interesting build options, but many seem too situational or weak to compensate for heavy defensive nerfs.

  • He thinks the buff cycling mechanic seems terrible. Only getting each buff for 20 kills means limited uptime and awkward gameplay flow.

  • Overall, Asmongold feels the patch has many more negatives than positives. The developers tried to balance Diablo 4 but only made the gameplay more tedious.

  • He plans to try the new season but may quickly quit if the necromancer builds he enjoys are no longer viable. The changes seem to discourage veteran players.

  • Asmongold doubts enough players will quit to force changes. But he hopes the devs will listen to feedback and improve the game in future updates.

yea, i mean, blind gobal nerfs without much finesse and in-depth tweaking of any classes, it looks uninspired and rushed for catching-up with quick investors goals and quick sales for a poorly designed game, what else.
Reducing the fun is the main thing i retain, and a concept most dev studios should stick with. having fun is a critical component, you can buff, nerf, but whatever, don’t render your game tedious and boring to play and progress through.

You’re posting in a video game forum Grandpa.

All good I’m getting off your lawn.

Sir I need you to go to the bathroom and count your chromosomes right now.

I completely agree and, as an Asmongold viewer, i must accept the reality: Asmongold is a classic entitled/arrogant man child when it comes to game takes. He loves to applaud things he personally likes, while crying about the changes that touch his class/build, completely out of touch with reality and sense of balance. As he says, he doesn’t want balance, he wants his class to be the best, the most powerful and, hopefully, that uses just one button.

He doesn’t like CC in games. He thinks all rpgs should just have HP and damage, that’s all, all other mechanics, skills, defenses, stats are cosmetic.

He wants to just shut down his brain, stare at the screen like a zombie and spin to win.

And that’s fine if it’s a personal choice, it’s what he enjoys, much like people who like pineapple on pizza (a blasphemy), but his community is extremely toxic, acting like fanboys bandwagoning on whatever he critiques, because he’s some sort of father figure or god even.

Guys, Asmon is fun to watch, has a way with words, is an insightful person, wise even sometimes. When it comes to games, don’t take him seriously. He has no idea what he is talking about, he will cry a lot, whine and complain, and the next stream he will play the game and say he loves it. Happened in WoW. Happened with poe. Will happen with D4.

It is what it is.

did you just ask ChatGPT to make a list about Asmongold’s video? hahaha my gosh you guys are improving

No, GPT sucks (subjective, but there is strong competiton, specially if you don’t pay for GPT4), it’s another one
Conclusion is mine though.

You’re missing the point pointed out in the first comment AGAIN. It’s not about you. I played on a daily basis, I have zero desire to play now because they not only didn’t buff my woefully underpowered Sorc, they nerfed it. This was an absolute disaster of a patch and they’re about to learn a hard lesson when BG3 murders this game in 2 weeks.

boycotting a single player game will compromise the experience for you? wtf are you even on son… worst take i’ve seen on the forums.

You must stream and be upset that Asmon simply rakes in the viewers while your 33 friends are the only peeps in your steam.

sure, then, what is your solution for this patch? blizzard buffing every single class together with the absolutely insane power that Hearts will provide us? I mean I don’t understand, how nerfing a bit could make people so mad

LOL, this guy doesn’t know what he is talking about and you should feel bad for even posting this.

Allow me to paraphrase OP:

Blah blah blah unless I agree with them complaints are just whining blah blah.

legit complaints, add to list, like, share. etc

You can absolutely boycott a single player game, for instance, if there is a decrease of 90% in the player base devs will not update the game in the upcoming months

About your next point, I wasn’t going to put that here, but I am actually a fortunate winner of my country’s lottery. Therefore, I don’t need to stream or work; I am just posting my opinion here.

True fricking story…

Munch munch munch… pass some more popcorn…
