My Internet was disconnected while I was playing a hardcore mode, and I’m back on the game like 1 min after that. Aaaaaand my character is gone. Dead. 13 hours of playing is just done like that.
Seriously…? How could I keep playing hardcore mode properly if my character is gonna be deleted by just some little accident which is not my fault? All the active hardcore characters on the server would be dead if the server goes down once?
I don’t even know if I should ask for my character being back because I can’t play with this circumstance anyway. This is ridiculous.

After my first character died in a dungeon from a mob that shouldn’t exist (counter said 1 mob left, I killed it and another came out of nowhere) 5 minutes ago my ISP had a reset, it wasn’t even 1 sec (music, stream, discord still going) and the game said returning to game and my character was dead (: and I cant even get a refund or character reroll I guess…

Most of the hc vets would say “welcome to hardcore” right about now. Disconn death is just one of those things. Death literally means nothing after a while. Hope that helps

It is very frustrating when it happens, it happened to me about 15 mins ago, even with those scrolls of escape on me that are supposed to protect you and teleport you away when a disconnected is detected. But that’s what you sign up for when playing hardcore, I suppose…
Yes it is. Hc is painful if you havent done it for a long time. You get better and better and eventually, youll be like its nothing to die.
First off: Sorry for your loss.
Hard Core is all about ripping and getting back on your feet.
I can tell you’re somewhat new to HC play in general.
HC old timers NEVER make posts about D/C rips ripping in general.

Drink to the Dead
This is part of the HC experience. Yes, it sucks when d/cs, computer crashes, etc. kill your character. It is… part of the unfair life that is hardcore and why your characters in HC will mean so much more than your characters in SC if you even have any.
HC, imo, is the best way to play Diablo games (and most ARPGs in general) because it takes focus away from min/max. I will admit though that I decided to play D4 first in SC (unlike D2 or D3) and will be jumping into HC with my second class.

Yup gotta dc before anything hurts u to have a chance
So I’ve played HC mode with The Division 2 and while I like the idea of trying to level up and finish the game without dieing as a challenge…
I can’t seem to understand how folks truly accept death from completely random $h17…
My Hall of fame(death) now consists of Lvl 10 Druid, 2 Lvl 11 Sorcs, and now a Lvl 17 Sorc… One of my Sorcs was an instant death 1hit smack… This latest one just happened because of a disconnect kick by Battle net server error. Tried to login after few minutes and I end up at character creation screen…
At this point, I guess I will just play the game in normal until they fix the server stuff… That FOMO HC100 race had me enraptured for these first few days but F that…
Are people just spamming for hours on random spawn adds to Lvl up, I saw a Lvl 50 HC person tonight… The open world just feels crazy!
People saying “welcome to HC” are missing a huge point of this discussion - the way D3 implemented DC. I played D3 almost exclusively HC and loved it. When a DC occurred, which on my ISP is typically a few times a week for a minute or so, the game would pull your character out quickly. While this could be cheesed, I never had time to hit some exit macro. So far on D4, I am 4/4 deaths, exclusively from DC. I’ve seen 10 seconds up to 30 seconds quoted on reddit as the length of time your character just sits there and dies. This is a completely different experience from D3, and it’s not enjoyable. Especially when you consider that they included a teleport scroll - there is provided an exit macro. Does nothing to help a DC. Given they supplied us with an ‘oh sh*t’ button, why is it necessary to punish a DC when in D3 a DC was just a minor annoyance? Town is lava, I am 95% of the time in combat, so with the current implementation HC is just not a viable option. Eventually I will DC. Might as well roll a dice when I login and just delete my character on the select screen, spice it up a bit in addition to the current DC implementation.

Hardcore is unplayable in Season 2 if you choose to play with rampant 3 second freezes and blatant server disconnects then that’s on you
right, what about auto teleport when latency hits 500+. seems simple? it tells us latency on our screen…
It seems unfair, I have Lost so many Friends in Diablo 3 and some in D4, killed by disconnection curse
But the reason is obvious : cheating with volontary disconnection would break all the fun and the meaning of the hardcore realm
Sometimes survival really more on luck than skills
Hardcore is just not for you. Play softcore because DC deaths are going to happen, no way around it. That is why I don’t play HC during thunderstorms.
Happened again today, i was fighting, teleported to town, went afk for lunch, i am dead when i return…
I’m a fan of hardcore in ARPGs. I really enjoyed it in Last Epoch when the ladders were still counting offline mode. I really don’t see the need for an always-online ARPG (and no, it is not necessary for good cheat detection), but that’s why I’m steering clear of hardcore these days.
I would love to see an offline hardcore mode with its own separate ladder.
First I will say rip. It sucks the uber DC boss claimed another scalp.
All of us have been collected by uber DC your apart of the club now softcore players will never understand us or our plight.
The hardcore player forges on through the pain and loss that’s what makes us hardcore.
Quit last season. Running the elixir, had the scroll. Game froze in open world with almost no mobs around. Dead.
Lamest game ever and they burned so many people they should be in jail.
I’m not a new player, I’ve been playing since the closed beta. I lost my lvl 78 character due to lag yesterday, so I created another one and had another delay today at lvl 72. I almost never make mistakes and I would say it’s unlikely that I’ll die due to lack of skill. I’m tired of this game, time to look for alternatives, Last Epoch is coming and I’ll be there!
Started HC S 2 and have had 4 characters…Died twice, both my fault…level 100 on the rest no issue’s
HC isn’t really for people who are better at the game…just people who could care less if their toon die’s. Lost my 99 because I traded resistance for more damage…oh well…start again. It’s just a game
