Data Error: Corrupted Data

Running into the same issue as last weekend. The game will crash with an error that says;
“Diablo IV detected corrupted data and was unable to automatically repair the damage. Please run Scan and Repair using the Battle.net application. It can be found in the Options menu for the game.”

It completely crashes my drive and I have to restart the PC for it to fix itself.
Things I’ve tried:
-Deleting and reinstalling the beta on same drive the Battlenet app is.
-Deleting and reinstalling all Battlenet games and app on same drive.
-Scan and Repair from app, which finds no errors after PC reboot.
-Scan my drives, no errors.
-Running as administrator.
-Making sure all drivers were up to date.
-Disabling programs like razer synapse/wallpaper engine before game start.

I’ve had no issues with any other game I run, including other Battlenet games (WoW, and D3)
If anyone knows a fix or suggestions, I’m all ears.
Thanks.

Exact same issue for me. Couldn’t play last weekend or this weekend. I am running the game on an external hard drive. Really not sure what is causing the issue, but Diablo 4 is apparently not in my future.

I’ve been having some hard drive related issues from the game as well.

Hard drive:
NVMe WD BLACK SN850 500GB (300GB free space)

Symptoms:
Client freezes and two blank “Data Error” pop-ups show.

Unable to access Diablo 4 folder on hard drive “Location is not available” until after restarting PC.

Attempts:
Ran Windows CHKDSK command, with no errors.
Ran “Scan and Repair” in Battle.net launcher.

Same problem, as I enter the map it crashes with "Diablo IV detected corrupted data and was unable to automatically repair the damage. Please run Scan and Repair using the Battle.net application. It can be found in the Options menu for the game.”

Guess that’s what playing a beta version does

I was able to play last weekend, but this weekend I have received the error. Its the same downloaded game. I am too frustrated and might give it a try again once the game is fully released. Will request a refund until then.

Same here. Downloaded today, Saturday and it crashes a lot with same error. Tried almsot the same stuff. I am hoping they fix this soon, it makes it frustrating especially when you preorder the top tier offer.

Final Edit:

Okay so the game runs out of VRAM. I can max the game and play flawlessly on a brand new 3060 TI but it runs out of 8 gigs of VRAM. This needs serious addressing.

According to the options menu, 8 GB VRAM is required for max texture settings. And lo and behold, the game uses 7.9 GB VRAM when you start. Perfect! Except… It overflows within an hour of play. Which crashes the game and erases your progress. Every. Single. Time.

The only solution? Lower textures to medium and eat the lesser graphics for now.

But even then the VRAM slowly fills and fills… and after an hour it was at 8GB VRAM usage on medium textures as well.

So there is a VRAM memory leak or something has gone seriously wrong coding the thing.

Same here. Funny enough, I actually ran a scan and repair before first launching the beta just to know it installed ok, and it was 100% fine and didn’t need to repair or download anything.

Then when about to exit the first major city, ERROR corrupted data.

Scan and repair… and nothing! No corrupted data!

EDIT: It happened AGAIN after finishing a MASSIVE 45+ minute dungeon and unlocking something I could check by opening the codex with Y… CRASH corrupt data.

Upon relogging back game puts me back in main city, dungeon completely reset.

hahahahaha…

It’s a beta and free but still big oof.

Plenty of free SSD space, free RAM left, cpu and gpu not maxing out.

EDIT 2: And AGAIN. When moving from dungeon floor, corrupt data CRASH and all progress in main quest gone. Game is appearing borderline unplayable.

Three hours of play and three crashes because of a nonsensical error that erase tons of progress.

Fenris got me this:

[Game] pm_dx12::Device::InitTexture: CreateCommittedResource Failed - Error : OutOfMemory, SystemCode : 0x8007000E (E_OUTOFMEMORY)

So an out of memory error which is nonsensical because the game gets to about 22 GB ram usage of my 32 gigs. Not nearly full.

The only thing I can think of is that it’s running out of VRAM (8gb).

Which would be ridiculous since I’m running a brand new 3060 TI card. If the game can run at 60fps (capped, uncapped higher) on this card maxed out but still run out of vram there is something seriously wrong with the optimization and textures need to be flushed way sooner.

Hmm, I’ll have to look at my GPU usage next time I attempt to play it. My 6800 is 16gb so there should definitely be some wiggle room there. Also what is causing it to only crash for some people if the optimization was the cause? Though I did notice a lot of the crashes were in the City or near/entering the public events.

Last weekend Friday was constant crashes, Saturday I was able to play from early AM to early afternoon with no issues, and then the crashes started again all the way through Sunday.

This weekend has been constant crashes. I did mess with a couple graphic settings to see if it would help but to no avail. Maybe tomorrow I’ll try to lower ALL the settings to lowest and see what its drawing from my GPU.

Just hope for all our sakes and sanity the issue gets resolved before the actual release.

Edit: I came across a post of someone showing a photo of their system usage while running the game. Their GPU was showing 20gb VRAM out of 24gb VRAM being used. They were running max settings at 4k. So you may be correct in the optimization being THAT bad and the spikes causing the error/crashes.

This has been happening to me mostly in Kyovashad. I had this 3x in a row just before the Wold Boss fight.

  • I went to the location, then teleported back to Kyovashad to sell my stuff. “Corrupted data” → CRASH
  • Game restart, load, spawn in Kyovashad. Took to steps. “Corrupted data” → CRASH.
  • Game restart, load, spawn in Kyovashad. Took to steps. “Corrupted data” → CRASH.
  • Game restart, load, spawn in Kyovashad. Sold my gear, ran to the World boss fight.
  • After the fight (we did not win I was the 2nd who showed up and even I was a minute late, about 10-15 people joined for some time until the fight finished, some of them of level 8, so no comment on the efforts made by the players…) I teleported to Kyovashad to repair all the gear damage I took from deaths. “Corrupted data” → CRASH.

Notes:

  1. I was using a hero from last weekend that I haven’t used in this weekend.
  2. I did the suggested SCAN & REPAIR. It didn’t seem to find anything.
  3. I accidentally left all my browser tabs opend, which used to cause NOT ENOUGH MEMORY exceptions before last week. Maybe I was having the same issue but with a different error message this time?!

Game often crashes from the corrupted data message. I have not been able to even get to the ruins in the starting area of the game. I noticed the memory usage slowly increases, and this time it crashed because it was out of memory. Hey at least I saved $90 from not preordering like I wanted to

I ran last weekend fine, was playing this weekend fine. Then suddenly tonight I started running into this issue. After about 5 crashes of this I tried using a different character thinking it might be druid related as I didn’t have this issue until going to try the druid. Proceeded to do it again on my Necromancer except this time it also blue screened my PC after I closed the error report. I’m not even sure what started causing the issue, it was playing fine friday night and this afternoon, but now this evening/morning it’s dead set on self destructing.

Same problem After sitting through queue it crashes at the character select screen I’ve tried everything.I was able to play some last weekend but it crashes every time this weekend.I uninstalled and moved game to same drive as OS and now it just bsod at same spot. All drivers are up to date and all other blizzard games work fine.Running Amd 5600x Tuf 3070 32gb ram and two 1tb 970 evos.
