Damage vs. Distant vs. Close

Why is it that 50% damage seems to hit harder than 115% damage to distant. I run a chain lighting sorc I came up with and I’m def staying away from enemies in mid-tier pit, but it always seems like the distant modifier is always weaker. I can’t find anything online saying that its different, but it sure as hell feels like it. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Go to the Training dummy and test it out.

The training dummys are not the best tools, but they are the best ones we have for a controlled test. If there is a significant difference/discrepancy it most likely will be noticeable.

% dmg gets double applied for dots so it’s the best temper for dot skills.
Maybe a similar thing is happening here?

I did do that, but the problem with it is I have tons of multiple bounces going on and also the ring that changes damage type every 7 seconds, so when I hit the dummy half of the time its proc’d and the other half it’s all white damage. not very readable when 9 bounces spam numbers on my screen.

record and then playback at slower speed if you can. best way to test

What exactly are you comparing it against. Is your build like 50% Close Damage and 50% distant?

And when testing remove your Elements Aspect, don’t make it harder for yourself.
